Having my dog get bathed while at daycare is great. She plays so hard she falls asleep on the car ride home & doesn’t want to leave.

What do you like about our services?

Staff is very customer service oriented. Love them all especially Daniel and Nico! Bailey loves going to daycare. He has been going the the South Summerlin Dogtopia since he was 4 months old and thoroughly enjoys going. He loves his routine there and it has helped with his shyness. If you’re worried about your dog not getting enough exercise, take him there. Guaranteed he will get exercise!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dogtopia. They are amazing!!!

How did we disappoint you and what can we do to make things right?

We have brought our dog Koda to Dogtopia for grooming on prior occasions and have been happy. On February 28, 2025, we dropped Koda off for grooming, teeth cleaning and nail trim. When we arrived to pick Koda up it took 5 to 15 minutes for the staff to bring her up to us. (typically we get a call that she is ready and when we arrive she is ready)
When we picked Koda up Saturday she was bleeding profusely from one of her nails. It took us several hours to stop the bleeding and by then she had bled all over the house.
It was a very stressful day and not at all the experience we expected.

Response from Dogtopia of Viera:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry, as that is never the experience we want for our pet parents or pups. We did attempt to reach you using both phone numbers listed on Koda’s file when her services were completed. The brief wait at checkout was due to some of our newer team members learning to fit the harness to Koda. Koda’s nail trim was completed at the start of her appointment, and there was no bleeding observed during her bath or blow dry. Occasionally, when a nail is clipped close to the quick, it can be re-nicked afterward for example during a walk which can cause it to bleed heavily. This happens because the quick contains blood vessels, and even a small reopening can appear more severe than it is. Koda is a bit wiggly during nail trims, and while we always take every precaution to keep her comfortable and safe, we understand that nail care can be stressful for her. Our team truly does their very best to work gently and carefully with her. We value having you and Koda as part of the Dogtopia family and would love the opportunity to make this right. We’d be happy to offer Koda a complimentary upcoming spa package and walk you through her care step-by-step so you feel fully comfortable with the process. Please feel free to reach out to us directly we appreciate your feedback and hope to see Koda again soon.

What do you like about our services?

I don't not have to like anything as my dog Rowan, a Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever mix LOVES EVERYTHING!!! Her arrival usually begins with a Mac attack, Mac is her favorite dog coach. Honestly she loves the etire staff but she has a few favorites She likes swim days as she loves to be wet! When she is done playing for the day she comes home eats, and naps all evening. She has been attending Dogtopia since she was 8 weeks old and she will be 3 in May. I believe Dogtopia has helped shape her into the wonderful dog she is, she considers them all family!

The team at Dogtopia was very welcoming. We like that the environment is safe for the dogs to interact gently, that there is always a human in the room with the dogs, that our dog receives special care & attention, and that no appointments are required if on a monthly plan.

What do you like about our services?

I like that you all take very good care of Austin. Major shout out to Miranda who keeps me updated on him whenever he's a little off.

Few things that I've already addressed previously but haven't noticed whether any changes were made, are regarding the cameras/app. The best quality is on Memorial. My dog is at Hermann Park and I always struggle to get the camera on the app to work so I can see him.

The quality of the image is subpar so whenever there are too many dogs in the playroom, because they usually stay closer to the door, we can't really spot him easily.

Still on that subject the angles could definitely use some adjustments, blindspots on both Outdoord and Hermann make it pretty difficult to see him. I never know if he's on a time out or just off camera.

Lastly, blocking the camera from 12-2pm is really frustrating. That falls within my own lunch break, which is when I am available to check on him and can't.

How did we disappoint you and what can we do to make things right?

We weren’t told about the rates going up almost double for boarding and baths. We have been customers for a long time and were disappointed no one told us until it was time to pick up our dogs

How did we disappoint you and what can we do to make things right?

I'm going to start off by saying that my dog LOVES it there. Loves it! And your employees are great with her and adore her.

However, I would have a really hard time referring a friend to your location because my fear would be that what happened to me would also happen to them. And then, I would look like an idiot.

Twice, I have had unbelievably awful experiences booking boarding for an out of town trip.

The first time was maybe a year and a half ago. I called a few days before my trip and booked her for most of a week. The person on the phone booked the time and cheerily said see you then. What she didn't tell me was that her vaccines were expired and you wouldn't accept her without updated vaccines. That would have been an easy fix. I know that is a conversation that you have with clients because I've booked her before and have been told that. So, I get her to the vet, get her updated and everything is fine.

But, because I wasn't told that when I booked, I left town and when my daughter went to drop her off, she was turned away. As a result, I was working 16 hour days and had to spend a huge amount of time trying to find friends who would watch her for a night or two. I added a ton of stress to an already stressful work week out of town.

Now, more recently, I was out of town for a month and had a very tight schedule with several people helping me. I booked several nights of boarding throughout the month to help with people dropping her off or picking her up.

I know Gertie's vaccines are up to date, and I know that you have those records. Still, I called about a week before I left town to just make sure that everything was up to date. There was some weirdness with the account being under the name of a previous household member. But I was informed her vaccines were up to date and everything looked good. I asked the account to be put in my name and have the other person taken off like it has been for the past couple of years and was told that wasn't a problem.

So, on the day scheduled for drop off, my friend drives down from Ogden before work, only to be told that she needed her vaccines and you couldn't take her. After some conversation with him trying to figure out where that info was in your system, he drove her back to Ogden to drop her off at his house and had to reschedule his morning because he was running 90 minutes late to work.

I was out of the country and got a text from him explaining to me what had just happened. After a short conversation with him, I was just baffled and annoyed. I called the front desk and had a conversation with someone who just was unhelpful. She didn't seem to have ever heard of the name 'Gertie' because I had to say it 3 times and spell it twice.

She looked up my account and said there were no records of vaccination on it. I explained my call a couple weeks before and what I had been told and she just repeated that the records weren't there. I told her about the other account name, which was still in the system for some reason, and she told me there were no records of vaccination there either. I re-explained that I knew her records were up to date and I had double checked this before. At some point she 'found' somebody else's records and told me that she only needed her rabies and once she got that, she could be let in. I clarified if she had the right dog, she said yes, so I repeated her name and then she saw she was on another account. She also kept referring to my dog as 'him', which isn't a huge deal but under the circumstances I found it really annoying. Especially after I corrected her more than once.

Eventually she puts someone else on who was able to help. We first ended up on my account, which obviously hadn't had the information transferred from the other account. So when she got to the other account she found the actual, current vaccine records for my dog. She apologized several times for the mix up. And I booked daycare for the next day.

I understand that you have a new system for records and there have been problems with the changeover. But that is no excuse for the debacle that happened. First of all, I don't know how my account was completely lost and defaulted to someone who should have been completely removed more than 2 years ago. Then I don't understand when a dog named Gertie comes in how they couldn't find the accounts for her. As I understand it, there are only 2 dogs with that name who come in to your place. Then when I explain to someone on the phone that I checked two weeks ago and was told things were OK, why she didn't even acknowledge that fact. She just kept telling me the records weren't there. Never once did she seem to comprehend that I had explicitly been told she was up to date. Then, I don't know how she ended up on another dog's records about a missing rabies shot. And then, when she checked the other account, she told me again that there were no records there. We know that is completely wrong because the person that helped me found them immediately.

So, I can't refer someone else to Dogtopia Holladay because I can't risk that the same thing would happen to them. I could let one time slide, but the problem is obviously systemic. Honestly, I'll bring her back because like I mentioned before she loves her time there. I'm not one to go online and put companies on blast but I don't have a lot of confidence in your operations right now.
