I recently dropped off my 5-month-old standard poodle for a half-day daycare while my husband and I went to a movie. While I appreciated the initial meet-and-greet, I have some concerns about how the day was managed.
The staff at the front desk are very friendly and welcoming, which I truly appreciated. However, during my dog’s time there, he barked quite a lot, as I saw in the video footage. What worried me most is that the staff kept placing him in the kennel even though he wasn’t fighting with other dogs. Barking can sometimes be a sign that he's scared, especially when we’re not around and he doesn’t know anyone or the other dogs aren’t familiar to him. Repeatedly putting him in the kennel when he’s not causing trouble doesn’t seem ideal for a young puppy trying to adjust and feel comfortable.
I also noticed that most of the dogs appeared bored and didn’t seem to have many stimulating activities. They mostly walked around, laid down, or stayed in the kennel. Since the weather was nice when we dropped him off after his nap, I was surprised they didn’t take the dogs outside for some play or fresh air. My dog tried to play with other dogs, which I think is healthy and normal for his age, but he was put back in the kennel afterward.
Additionally, during a fun activity like blowing bubbles, my dog was again placed in the kennel. I observed that staff was petting some dogs but not all, which could potentially lead to jealousy or uneven attention among the dogs. I believe that during such activities, all dogs should be out of their kennels unless a dog becomes aggressive, so they can fully participate and enjoy the experience.
Throughout the day, I kept checking in and saw my dog mostly in the kennel, waiting. I wish there were more engaging activities, outdoor playtime, and attentive interaction from the staff. For energetic puppies like mine, more active play and outdoor time would make the experience more enjoyable and beneficial.
Very kind people work at Dogtopia who are knowledgeable, happy to answer any questions, and my pup loves to walk in those doors.
The admitting staff, Megan, Liz, and Kate. Eddie - Gnat loves him and he understands her. The extras that are offered like doggie splash day, spas, etc. The effort made to keep the dog spaces clean and sanitized. The appropriate mixing of doggy personalities.
.
I really enjoy the live camera option. But, would also like a "report card" to be handed in person if possible.
Cameras were down for awhile. Better camrras
To no fault of your own --- corporate often is the one to make awful decisions for everyone else - but every time I fill these surveys out I'm going to complain that you are the only doggy daycare facility that has done away with the package pricing to use when we desire. I have to monitor my account very closely now to make sure I'm not being over-charged which I have already discovered once, and making sure all visits I bought are used or moved to the next month so I don't automatically lose them which I'm still shocked is even legal if we already purchased them. Staff is always friendly and great, although turnover seems high as it's often people I don't recognize (college town though, I get it). Layla loves doggy daycare, until we changed rooms from beach to park though she was coming home with loads of energy still. Switching to Park has helped tremendously. Thank you. The only other thing is titer test should be accepted for vax immunity. People are becoming more aware of the dangers and risks for both people and dogs of OVER vaxxing which I believe is why Layla has so many health issues. Debating on continuing with daycare once next round of vax expires bc they are just poison. If a test can so immunity there should be zero reason why it's not accepted.
Everything
When I went to pick up my dog, I asked if he had received two meals. I was told he had but when I got home the amount of food left indicated only received 1 meal. It wasn't critical that he got two meals, but I was annoyed to be misinformed.
I also would have liked more detail on how and what he did. Did he mostly spend time with dogs or with people? Was there a particular dog he seemed to link up with?
All I received was a general "he did fine".
I will stop by with him in the near future. I want to see if he is enthused to come or hesitant.
At the doggy daycare where I used to live when I brought in Pierre he rushed to the door.
Let's see how he does coming to Dogtopia.
Great set up, consistent schedules, clean, dog friendly staff, spa services, accessible hours. My dog loves it there.
Have more activities or things for the dogs to do
Very nice and welcoming!

Y'all take good care of the dog
Excellent service and attentiveness
Dogtopia treats my dog like he is their own!!
The employees obviously care about our dogs. They are friendly and have great customer service.
Friendly people. Easy process of drop and pick-up. Our Labradoodle seemed to have a great time. I will say there was a very strong odor of ammonia. The staff said they would mop the floor. Hope that helps!
I can trust that they’ll take good care of my dogs and I don’t have to worry while I’m away. I know my dogs are in good hands.
All the different services that you offer
very welcoming and professional.I wish you would have an outside area/backyard for dogs to play outside
Receptionist are very friendly and welcoming. Staff are just the same. They show compassion and kindness to my baby boy.
Very nice staff! Flexibility in drop off and pick up hours. Staff engaged with dogs
Great customer service, easy to schedule appointments and my dog seems very happy to be there.
Professional, kind staff. Clean environment
Dog seems to be having fun. Your booking is simple, staff is efficient and friendly. We like being able to watch him on the camera.
More engagement with the dogs :) would be great to see more playtime with the dogs
Also, the last time, it smelled really bad
Marlo has a great time and gets plenty of interaction and stimulation. It’s a huge relief to me as I guilty about working and leaving her in her crate all day.
We absolutely love Dogtopia SouthBank. The staff is always smiling and Lucy is always so excited to go to daycare!
I like how well-run it is, how clean and well-taken care of it is. The staff are all awesome, they care deeply about the animals who go in for daycare, grooming or overnight stays. They are all very kind, helpful and respectful. It’s the only place I found where my dog, Angus, felt comfortable. Other places, he did not want to go in and would try to run back out. At Dogtopia, he pulls to get in.

The staff is fantastic and doggie loved it. It is a bit on the pricey side. I would bring more often if it was cheaper.
