Everything!! The staff is great and my pet loves going to daycare.
Disappointed but not a total disaster
I recently tried dogtopia for my dogs, and unfortunately, the expectation did not live up to the expectations. While I didn't feel like my dogs were in danger, the overall care and attention to detail were lacking - hence the four out of 10 Stars.
Here's what went wrong:
Sanitation issues: one of my dogs blankets came back with poop on it. That's unacceptable and raises serious concern about cleanliness and supervision.
Feeding neglect: I provided their food, but half of it was untouched. No explanation, no update - just wasted food and unanswered questions.
Bath or ineffective: my dog still smelled after their bath, and they weren't even dried properly. They came out damp and uncomfortable, which defeats the purpose of grooming.
I did appreciate that the staff seemed friendly, and my dogs weren't visibly stressed when I picked them up. But basic hygiene and proper care are non-negotiables, and dogs hope you feel short on both.
If you're considering them, I'd recommend asking very specific questions about how they handle feeding, cleaning, and post bath care. I wouldn't rule them out entirely, but I need to see some improvements before trusting them again.
I think the staff are wonderful! I trust them. Our dogs love being there.

I’ve been happy with the service from this location. The staff is always very friendly and you can tell they love the dogs. I can tell by the way my dog acts coming in and out of the daycare that she actually enjoys going there. Best experience so far of the three different daycares I’ve sent her

I like Dogtopia…but the prices now are insane….
Employees seem overwhelmed and rushed during pick up and drop off. There is a very evident dog urine smell in the lobby that is masked by a very strong smelling air freshener. While the webcams are nice, the camera does not view the entire play area. More often than not there is something happening to the left of the camera scope that cannot be seen, it’s where all dogs like to hang out with the employees. There are no accessible viewing windows to see the dogs playing.
We have been encouraged not to pick up during the dog nap time because employees are lunching or deep cleaning, which is great for them but that’s a 2 hour window (12p-2p) where my dogs have to sit in a crate even when I could be taking them home. While it’s not a written rule it is an oddly off putting verbal request by staff.
Otherwise my dogs are kept safe, so that’s why we return.

I like that the staff is always friendly. I liked that there are webcams to check on my pup while at daycare, just wish they were a loves continuous feed versus a set amount of time only, and they worked consistently.

Everything! The people are awesome! The hours are the most convenient. The place is always clean. My dog gets treated the like she is their own. Plus my dog loves everyone there and all the dogs, too.
The team is great, and they clearly enjoy the dogs. My dog practically pulls me there every morning! The daycare hours are extremely convenient and the location is perfect!

I was taking my dog to another daycare but decided I wanted to check around and see what else there was in my area. My Google search found Dogtopia in northwest Edmonton. I was very excited to see they had webcams. The previous location I was taking my dog to didn’t and it always made me uneasy. Dogtopia is a nice clean facility. l love the webcam but for the comfort of the dogs, I also love that they have A/C. On these +30°C days, it’s comforting to me that my dog will not be in a hot building. She’s more likely to play when the room temperature is nice and cool. Although Dogtopia is further way than I’d like, I’m willing to drive 20 minutes to have her spend her time at Dogtopia.
Accessibility for baths, nail trims, brushing of teeth. Additionally availability of boarding and daycare.
