I felt like I was at a used car lot. Lots of overselling and pushing me to buy expensive things, including things I didn’t need. We were looking at the electric bikes and just wanted information about them. I was directed to expensive models and given the hard sell in front of my kids—the whole family can use this, our son can pick up groceries for you if you buy this, you don’t have to pay for insurance, gas, parking, etc. We ended up buying an electric bike from a store in Santa Monica that was better for our needs and $1k cheaper. And, had the pleasure of working with knowledgeable sales people who gave us an honest assessment of the various models and directed us to a model that was reasonable instead of pushing us to buy a $3k model.
I also asked the salesman at your store for a simple adapter for the tires on my bike that cost $2 and was given the hard sell to buy a pump that I told him I didn’t need. I was really disappointed because I always had such great experiences with your shop before.

Fast and reliable
Last year I had bought brand new Speedplay cleats, even though it was the old, the yellow model. This year I wanted them installed as my bike fitter told me there were to left ones. When I went back to Helen’s for replacement the sales personell told me that they could’t take them back. For once, Speedplay had been sold to Wahoo in the meantime and Helen’s had some 90 day policy in place for returns. So I was stuck with what I had. I had to buy new Wahoo-Speedplay cleats, albeit I could manage a 20% discount from Helen’s. To be very frank I am appalled by that idea of customer service. I am really angry. How is it the customer’s fault when the item one buys (the two left cleats) is inadequate. Helen’s should have taken that back and given me the new Wahoo cleats instead. This was not the first item I had bought from Helens in all these years but it will most likely be the last one. I am tempted to even return the discounted, new Wahoo cleats just because I really want nothing to do with this story any more.
