The service for my car was excellent as are the service staff. . However the Don Franklin unannounced and unwarned nearly 3% charge for using a credit card for a $900 purchase was not. A post card size note saying “ save money with cash” on the cashiers window is not sufficient notice. I did not notice it until after my 2nd visit to the cashier and after I was told “there are signs.” I made my appointment by phone and I was not informed of this charge and I was not prepared. I do not carry a check book with me.
I made a deliberate choice to pay a little more for my tires than I would have at Wal mart to use your services. But Wal mart does not charge a credit card fee. I will consider that in the future. And I am not fooled by being told “ this is because we chose a new credit card processing company” or that “the Kentucky legislature passed something” implying it’s the state’s fault. Don Franklin made a choice to start charging their customers because they are now allowed to-it’s a choice, not a requirement. I am certain the credit card fees were already built into your prices and Don Franklin is maximizing its profits. Tell the truth and tell your customers IN ADVANCE. And get a MUCH bigger signs that clearly say, there is a fee for using a credit card. Also, customers who make phone appointments should be told and reminded of this policy. I had no way to know this policy in advance. That is unfair.
Fortunately I was able to get a check at the last minute. And fortunately I had enough money in my account to cover the costs. But I think much less of Don Franklin after this experience.
I request that you pass my comments on to the people that made this decision. And maybe Don Franklin should consider a cash discount instead and of an unanticipated fee. It may amount to the same thing but does not give the customer the impression that they have been gouged again.
My husband and I each own a Toyota bought and serviced, up to this point, by Don Franklin. Keep your customers in mind.

I loved that the Don Franklin (London Ky location) got me in for an oil change the same day I called!!! I had been going to the Somerset location and it was going to be a week to get an oil change! I live in London, so it makes sense to go to London location for service and I was very pleased!!!

Ford makes a quality product. The guys and gals are always willing to help.
Eric McDonald always goes above and beyond. He has made not only the car buying, but the car owning experience more than I ever thought it could be. He even takes time out of his busy day to say hello and ask how I’ve been every time I bring my car in for service. He truly makes it feel like you’re more than just a customer, you’re a member of the Don Franklin family.

The new facility is beautiful. The drive up service lane and driving inside before having to get out in the cold was very much appreciated. Wonderful touch there. Waiting area is much nicer too. The service staff were very nice and professional. I was a little concerned with my Ford F-150 as I had purchased it used elsewhere and sincerely appreciated the service staff’s and the technician’s attention to detail. Seems my truck is in outstanding mechanical condition with only the rear brakes being something I’ll need to take care of in the near future.
