It’s been 3 days since I just spent just over $5000.00 on 2 brand new Trek bicycles and 2 new helmets and to my disappointment the experience was way below my expectations.
After getting home and unloading the bikes from my vehicle I noticed random grease makes all over both bikes. Upon taking a closer look me and my girlfriend found grease and oil marks all over the tires, frame and seat areas. We spent about 1 hour removing all the stains from the bikes and couldn’t believe the sloppy mishandling of the bikes. Especially on the seats!
After going out for our first ride we discovered both bikes where also poorly tuned and setup. 1 bike continually skips when it’s in the tightest gear and can’t be kept in that gear. I need to bring up the gear in order to illuminate the continuous skipping. On the same bike the rear brake is also extremely soft and gummy when being applied. It takes way to much effort to engage the rear brake and finding that I have to over compensate by over using the front brake more than normal.
The second bike makes this horrible, loud sound when applying the rear brake as if something isn’t working and causes the bike to vibrate.
I am fully aware there is a break in period for the bikes and parts but both bikes are just way out of whack the way they ride as being brand new. I’ve owned 2 previous Trek bicycles (Trek 4500 mountain bikes) that I purchased brand new and neither one had any of these issues when delivered to me.
I am an intermediate mountain biker and have owned TREK bicycles all my life. These 2 new bikes I just purchased 3 days ago where my first real serous investment in the TREK family of bikes and just couldn’t believe the condition of how the bikes where delivered to me. Apparently “brand new” condition. Both new bikes are poorly tuned and poorly setup and full of grease stains. Truly unacceptable service, especially after I spent $5000.00. Awful experience and extremely disappointed in this location!
I’m waiting about 1 week or so in hopes that some of the problems go away or to see what other issues arise, but ultimately considering returning my purchase all together.
