HVAC has not been working, equipment has needed repair and has not been done yet. Many of the benches have naughahyde that is flaking off. There have been leaks in the locker room. In general, it has not been kept up and is often dirty. Many of the towels are ripped.
Every year you take out a fee to maintain on top of monthly fee. But lately the ceilings being yellow discolored and missing ceiling with several buckets and water leaking in the Hickman building is looking bad. Imagine roof needing fixed or replaced. So I wouldn’t recommend that to someone else at this time in my time going to that building.
Convenient clean and well equipped with towel service
The gym is constantly dirty, the men’s locker room is always dirty. I’ve seen stains that have been in the same spot for months since I’ve been there. Easy stains to clean. The sauna and steam room look horrible. It doesn’t look and smell like a clean gym. The pool and hot tub are disgusting. Some machines don’t work properly. This gym is an accident waiting to happen. I’m a business owner, I own a power washing company and have asked multiple times to clean all concrete and other hard surfaces but they say no, they have someone that does it. Well I’ve been coming to genesis on ward parkway for months and every week it goes down hill. I would like a refund on my membership. I pay $53 a month for crap and unsanitary environment. I can pay $10 more and go to Lifetime where the gym looks and smells clean, the staff is friendly and you get more bang for your buck
The group classes are great, the staff are friendly.
Equipment and facilities need some upkeep. Flooring tiles in sauna is falling apart while locker room carpeting tiles are dirty. Staff is friendly and willing to help with issues as they arise.
The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing. I like the variety of equipment and areas to do your own routine
Cleanliness' and the tennis court.
1. You closed the Centerra location without notice. That was my main gym and now I have to drive up to south but am paying the same price as before.
2. South location is in need of an update. HVAC is incredibly inefficient. The gym is hot and smelly and the bathrooms/showers are terrible smelling. I've been a member for a long time and they never used to be that way.
3. AMT machines are all worn out. I haven't seen any equipment upgrades in a long time.
4. Lower your monthly fees. There is a lot of new competition in town and they ALL have lower priced options.
OPINION: At the south location, tear out the grid ceilings and convert to open to structure. This would help the gym feel much larger and have better air space.
Teddy and Brent are great tennis coaches. Staff is always nice. Love the smoothies. YMCA sucks in comparison.
I would like to see the hours lengthened on Saturdays and Sundays until 9pm. It feels like Sat and Sun evenings are good times for families to swim, etc. 8pm, especially during summer, does not feel like it is long enough evenings. I know there are many remodels at Raquet Club location, and wondered if the pool area will be renovated at the East location. The indoor pool needs lots of attention, including ventilation. The chlorine smell is almost too powerful to enjoy the indoor pool, in my opinion. I would like to see the East location ramp up it's tennis program/lessons, as it is closer to us than Racquet club. There are many wonderful things about Genesis East, just think there are some things that would make it a better experience for the monthly dues. I also miss the "bring a friend to swim" fee of $6, especially if they are not using the club. Ages 18 and under, or 16 and under. We used to be able to afford to bring a friend to swim, but with the walk-in facility fee being so expensive, bringing a friend to swim is not an option. Thank you for all you do to make things better!
It's clean and has a great variety of equipment.
Include all class offerings and pool availability for lap times on one document, also include paid or unpaid options and times. There is no documentation that states that you cant swim laps from tu- th from 5 to 7.
when centerra closed, I received a letter stated my membership would be upgraded so I could use the south club for a year, yet every time I try to use the south location they try and charge me an additional $5. I have provided the letter, have been contacted and told it would be taken care of and it has yet to happen. that location closed in January. That is almost 7 months and still not resolved.
The club’s offerings are terrific but it is not clean. The bathrooms are in a constant state of disrepair and odors emanate. Weight machines that are broken stay that way for far too long.
Air quality in the upstairs group fitness room is poor.
I realize Genesis doesn’t own the Aksarben building but that is no excuse for the poor conditions.
Cardio equipment often need maintenance.
There rarely are clean towels available. Also it would be nice if you could ask a trainer a question about a machine or move and have it answered.
The Ridgeview (Olathe) location just started lockerroom renovation today, which was one of my biggest complaint - they were very dated. Towel availability has also been a problem, although not as much lately. In general, however, clubs have lots of equipment. I can't very often find a class that I want at a good time, but I understand you can only offer so many choices. I'm, overall, happy and looking forward to the refreshed locker rooms.
Parking lot at the Hickman location needs to be patched and repainted so we can tell where to park. Ceiling inside is often open to wiring (probably not safe) and buckets and towels are set up to catch drips from leaks. Clocks throughout the facility don't work and still have the Aspen name. Remove or fix.
Finish the remodel. Air conditioning in the yoga room would be nice. How can you say your a premiere gym? Shower doors!
Friends are there but put up some more clocks in strategic places like hot tub/sauna area!
1)The locker rooms are not as clean as they were when it was Sky.
2) Stairmaster machines not working
3) heard rumors of inappropriate activities in mens locker and steam room which are completely unacceptable.
This location has a friendly staff…however;
The gym is in poor condition and equipment is bad. Most benches and seat are ripped and torn, terribly so. The CARPET is totally black with dirt and grime. It’s warped, rippled and a trip hazard in some areas.
Cardio equipment doesn’t work and rarely gets fixed. There’s no area designated for hip thrusts and women do not like to attempt that exercise in the wide open with a makeshift set up.
The locker rooms usually have one working soap dispenser and/or paper towel dispenser.
Considering members pay the same amount as most other locations, it is not good business nor fair that we cannot get basic needs fulfilled. We understand this facility is rented, but we sh it is have to workout in a dirty environment with decaying equipment.😫

There's mold all over them mens showers. There were shower heads running scalding hot water non stop for months. The jacuzzi was down for a month and is never clean. The steam room is always unclean and does not work constantly but consistently smells of mold. The stairmasters have been broken for longer that a month. The temperature on the gym floor is always freezing. Which is a good way to pull a muscle. There is always a lack of towels. The restrooms are always unclean. There are a lot of times when staff is just standing around when there are more than enough things to do.
Bad quality gym by my house. No notice of membership ending. Bad staff and management online. Over priced. Crap equipment.
Not disappointed, just not impressed.

You might want to go take a look for yourself. Such a disappointment 80 degrees in the gym, water leaking in the stairwell. (Lawsuit waiting to happen)
Sauna not working, ice machine leaking in the hallway. Im canceling membership end of month.

The men's locker room wet area is filthy. The steam room is full of mold. Some of the showers don't have functioning nobs to turn the water on or off.
