Morning staff are friendly, music is always upbeat, and plenty of free-weight equipment.
-Has everything I need
-Not massively crowded
-Helpful staff
Friendly and supportive staff, trainers and instructors.
Spent most of the summer without an air conditioner in the Bodypump class.
I felt sick most of the time which made the class miserable.
Hot tub is very nice! Machine selection is pretty decent as well.
Friendly staff at the counter when you come in and leave. Towels and toiletries. The restaurant and bar area—love the specials and the coffee. The cleanliness.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and seeing them brightens my day. The tennis pros are amazing and truly care about helping me improve.
Overall, the gym isn't taken care of very well like it was when One Life was the owner. The gym isn't very clean and the floor tiles are coming up a lot. One of the urinals in the men's room hasn't been able to flush for a few weeks now. You've taken down the gym rules. People loudly drop the weights and grunt a lot. The music is so loud I can hear it over my earbuds. Did you guys take over this gym with any desire to properly maintain it like the operator before you or just as a money grab?
Locker rooms are atrocious. Smells like something dead. Steam rooms never work but location states they will be fixed soon. Should be giving discounted membership for the number of things that are broken. Newly replaced vinyl has already failed. Walls in court area have been in a patched state for almost a year and a half. Surface is also getting ripped up because they are allowing sled to be used on the surface. Class schedules aren't posted and they wonder why no one attends. Not even on boards for rooms. Hot tub is just plain gross! Parking lot has no lines for parking and is very poorly lit.
Not impressed with the personal training. It was not a great experience. The steam room Ihas been broken for several months and there is no explanation of why it is taking so long to fix or when it will be open again.
I’ve been a member of the midtown club since it was Prairie Life. This location *used to be* on par with the current Westroads location, but now…I’m afraid to recommend the midtown location to newcomers. I upgraded my membership so that I have access to the Westroads a little while ago, and needed to go to the midtown location because of time restraints. When I walked into the midtown location I wasn’t surprised at all to see that the machines that were out of order before I left are STILL out of order. It’s a shame to see that since Genesis took over the midtown location the machinery has been consistently out of order, broken, with ripped seats or broken cables. There was even a point in the summer where the ventilation system must have been broken for weeks - I couldn’t run on the treadmill without slipping because the condensation on the machinery was so thick! That’s just the main weight room - the bathroom is EVEN WORSE! When I go into the locker room, there’s a tile of the ceiling that has been missing for over MONTHS, with the steam room going in and out of order and mold growing in between the tiles of the shower. All in all, the midtown location has become a dump.
i like that it’s so big i don’t feel claustrophobic or like i’m working out too close to anyone and usually it’s not too busy which is great
The Staff and members
Nice staff, clean gym and equipment.
The manager addresses needed maintenance in a timely manner.
Update some equipment and have more towels availability
Best gym of which I have been a member
I am tired of not being able to use the shower facilities. The construction has been horrible and has drug out way to long.
The handicap stall in the shower has been broken since January.
The lift into the pool needs to be replaced, which you are well aware of. The seat has 2 severe cracks in it, that are getting worse. This week, the lift has gotten where it doesn't always go down by the remote.
I always make sure I have someone with me, or I am in a class, so I am not stranded in the pool.
This is certainly not what I signed up for, but there is no other place to go in town.
Nothing personal. The club/facility is great. The location “Ballpark Village” is not ideal in the summer. Parking and downtown events are sometimes discouraging to working out. A trivial point, the music in the club is always too loud.
My husband and I have been members of Miramont for over 20 years
Since Genesis has been the owner, we have definitely noticed a decline.
The main areas that are declining are the following:
The parking lot and all the potholes. The trees dying and not being kept up and trimmed.
The AC breaking down in the middle of summer. The women's restroom not being kept clean and in good repair. The caulking around the sinks and toilet bases is very old and getting dirty and gross looking. The towels used to be nice and clean looking. Now they look very old, worn out and a grey like color. Sometimes there are no towels available.
The exercise machines are often broken and it takes a long time for the to get fixed.
The men's shower and locker room is very musty smelling and doesn't feel very clean anymore.
Sorry to report all these things, because we enjoy Miramont very much. I love the fitness classes. The teachers are excellent. The cafe is nice .
Friendliest staff of any gym ive ever been in. Equipment is great (short of ever broken treadmills). Pool is great for kids and plenty of classes/.
The welcoming atmosphere, equipment, affordability and the option to work with a trainer
I am tired of having to wait to use an apparatus because someone has to check their phone between every set. I am also tired of people claiming 4-5 or more stations at once so they can rotate among them. I only use one station at a time and I resent having to wait to use these so called “reserved” stations while the guilty party is on their phone or chatting with other members. I am also way past done with people leaving their weights on the machines.
I would like to see phones restricted to the lobby or the parking lot. I would like reservations of multiple stations to be forbidden and I would like the policy about putting away the weights you used to be monitored or enforced.
I like coming to your north facility but these three issues are making me not enjoying my visits. This past Sunday I counted that I had to remove more than 600 pounds of weights before I could use the different stations. This caused me to hurt my back. I am 70 years old and I don’t need any of this.
Thank things are broken, pool heater, ripped seats on exercise equipment, air compressor on hot tub, lockers are constantly being locked without being in use, locker carpet smells really moldy because there is no suit spinner to wring out the suits so they end up wet on the carpet.. We pay almost $60 a month for membership and then get charged a yearly fee of almost $50, not sure what that is for. I love the exercise classes so will keep going but if there is ever another indoor pool built in Manhattan, I'm done. Sad that this place has so many problems.
The club is first class. Everything looks great. Equipment is clean and in good repair. Friendly staff.
Replace broken machines and re rack And organize the weight room at night
No kids running around like the YMCA.
Great location and short commute.
I would appreciate knowing when the club enhancement fee is coming at least a month ahead of when you're going to bill it so we're not surprised.
I would like to know how you've applied the club enhancement fee to the club we attend exclusively, even if it's at a high level. Did you buy new equipment, more towels, more sanitizing equipment, did you fix the sauna or use the money to replace the wood benches in the sauna? Having an idea of where that money goes makes me less frustrated about the surprise bill and understand that the money is serving a purpose.
If a machine is broken, fix it with a sense of urgency.
The staff at Ward Parkway is always pleasant and deserves props for making each trip a pleasant experience, make sure they know they're valued and the work they're doing makes a difference.
Group Fitness and the pool
I enjoy the atmosphere of being inclusive of those trying the gym out for the first time and those that have been going and are striving for a better goal. I enjoy the sauna and the different classes offered here.
