The Genesis staff is very accommodating and friendly. They do not appear to be empowered to make improvements or changes that would benefit members of the club. The men’s showers, stream room, and toilets very dirty and unsightly, as we’ve pointed out over the last five years. The ceilings leak terribly. The carpets in the locker rooms are vacuumed on a regular basis and look pretty good, but the grout in the showers are terrible. The stools and urinals are often not working. There needs to be a paper towel machine in the men’s locker room, coffee cups, coffee, hot chocolate provided in the upstairs lounge. Everybody loves Ryan the tennis Pro and Karen at the check in desk.
I have asked multiple times the local management to handle items of concern as well as regional management and all responses and comments lead back to executive management not taking due care to empower local staff. Much of the staff turns over so frequently there is no consistency in how things are handled or taken care of within the facilities.
The equipment is broken for months. The cleanliness of machines, equipment, floors and walls is horrible. The space has become more of a gym that smells and looks as such rather than a health club. It is totally unacceptable to not hold staff and clients accountable for the maintenance of the club.
The signage on the building still say it’s Prairie Life which is two owners ago. Yet another sign ownership/executive management does not care about this location.
The clientele has also seemed to have changed greatly since Genesis has taken over. They are less caring of the other patrons and staff. Not sure why or what has caused this but it is apparent through some of the attitudes displayed as well as the slamming of weights and not wiping equipment down after use.
Also, people are using or taking excessive time on machines now allowing others to use equipment. Weather early morning or in the afternoon some individuals are on a schedule to get to or back to work so having individuals use a piece of equipment for an extended period blocks others from getting their full work out in.
The Midtown Crossing location itself is great! I realize ownership of the space is not consistent with Genesis models however you have a captive audience in the residential community, which I am apart of.
Overall, going to the Midtown Crossing Genesis is great because it’s so convenient. Just need to fix the inherent issues and maintain the equipment and facilities. Along with retaining staff for consistency.
I do want to say it’s great the air conditioning has now been resolved. I also thank you for asking my opinion however, without action it means very little.
Thank you!
Genesis on E Central is the go-to place for me. Always greeted with a smile and welcome, always have a machine and the manager, Daniel is always there to answer questions. And, if you ever need a trainer...Nick is the best! Sorry to leave, but Colorado calls! Thanks East Central Genesis!

The hours, classes, and the amount of machines and weights that are available to use during my workout
An ice maker! I would be so so happy with an ice maker!
Another squat rack and belt squat machine.
Otherwise I’m quite happy with the gym!
Hot tub could be cleaner and alot of the showers need fixing. And the locker room always smells.
After the remake were going to see a whole new club
Everything fits my needs except the steam room and the sauna. Both need to be replaced due to there deteriorating conditions.
Many of the amenities are either unclean or not working completely. The pool is always very cloudy and dirty. Most of the showers in the locker rooms aren’t working and the hot tub and steam room are always dirty also the few times they’re working.
The music being played overhead is terrible. I usually workout at the Westroads location. Same music.
Your employees!
variety of activities, pool classes, social interaction, closeness to my house
Finish the renovations at the Lincoln racquet club location. They have been going on way too long.
The facility hasn’t been very clean. Locker room showers smell. Carpet isn’t very clean.
Update ad repair equipment
Greetings!
I have been a member of Prairie Life Fitness, or PLF, (then The Athletic Club & now Genesis Health Clubs) of 132nd since October 11, 2017. This gym was 10/10 back then, and now is 5/10 (+2 points since my May 22, 2022 evaluation mainly due to the steam room & whirlpool being fixed) due to the following reasons (issues):
1. Limited Gym Hours - Closing the gym too early compared to what it was before COVID-19 (Very important issue still) - This gym used to close at midnight Mon-Fri & at 10 pm Sat-Sun. Now the gym closes at 10 pm Mon-Fri & 8 pm Sat-Sun. This affects me a lot and is a huge problem! This is especially very true now that 84th & Q St has still not finished remodeling their steam room, sauna, and whirlpool. It is very difficult for me to do my formal routines, especially during the work week, because of this problem and limited hours. My job requires a lot of traveling and long hours of work. It is very difficult for me to get to the gym early enough to do my routines. The gym gets too full during the week, because these short hours concentrate members at around 6 pm making them more vulnerable to getting infected with COVID-19. It also makes training much harder and slower. I understand that you are very short of staff. But, it will be great if the gym closes at 11:00 pm, at least, and 9 pm on weekends (like 84th & Q St does). I understand that we are still in a pandemic, but I think closing at 11 pm, for now, will be beneficial, because it will spread out the members more to avoid contracting COVID-19, and will give us more time to complete our workouts safely and use the facilities optimally.
2. Men's Locker Room Whirlpool - I have noticed that the whirlpool has been broken way too often and fixed too many times even in the same week! The cleaning has improved but unfortunately not enough. The water changes color from blue to green and gets dirty very quickly. Please raise the water level to 2 tiles up below the top border and clean the whirlpool more often.
3. Showers – 7 of the 12 showers are broken or not working, and some shower handles are difficult to close, causing hot water to concentrate and heat even more. Then, when you open the shower, extremely hot water falls and it can burn you. The manager should watch the showers more often to see this because it will cause the water/electricity bill utilities to be very high for the gym. The regulator seems to be defective and this issue will be a huge problem if you don't fix it soon. I understand the 84th & Q St not operating fully. I recommend that you make a major repair of the showers after 84th & Q St fully reopens. Please plan this ahead before someone (including children) gets burned.
4. Cleaning - Indoor swimming pool water cleaning has improved lot. Good job! But the steam room, dry sauna, whirlpool, toilets & shower area (floor/tiles) still need more cleaning and smells bad. Please clean more often. What happened to the after-hours cleaning personnel?
5. Shower Stall Soap Not Refilled (not much change since previous feedback) - Maintenance personnel is still not refilling the soap in the shower stalls daily. This is still an issue, especially on the weekends.
6.. Short of staff - The staff in this gym is pretty nice and tolerant. I especially like Tracy, she is amazing! 😊 Now they have greatly improved since Jon Rideout left this gym. They are now very patient towards members during closing time. This is due to the given fact that the gym hours were shortened after COVID-19. Please continue to be nice and courteous to members. Please have more nice employees clean the shower area more often, refill the soap containers, bring more clean towels to the front desk and help with the front desk.
7. Equipment - Thank you for bringing hand grips. The gym, in general, has very good equipment, but some machines (or equipment) are still missing. What happened to the 3 additional curl bars that you put the weight plates on that were in PLF before? Now there is only 1 with the preacher bench. There are only 2 or 3 pairs 2.5-lbs plates scattered on the whole gym. Also, the Hammer Strength Isolateral High Row machine is missing, which is a very basic machine. PLF had it before. Can you please get them back to the gym and also add a weight plate station with more 2.5-lb plates?
Please help us. This gym is supposed to be the best in Omaha. I appreciate your efforts!
Thanks for providing this medium for the feedback! :)
Repair the outside tennis courts or cover them. Improve in-house league sign up.
Cleanliness and quality of staff
I would prefer to be greated professionally, even if the greeter at the front desk is half my age.
Location and validated parking
Poor care of equipment, bathrooms and pool area
All classes
Some of the equipment has been removed and some of them doesn’t work very well. I’d also really like the scale back in the ladies locker room. Nice to know if you’re losing any weight while you’re working out hard
A sauna on the southside Genesis would be nice
Everyone is friendly.
Renovated locker room, saltwater pools, steam room, towel service
Very friendly helpful
Since Genesis bought the club the equipment has not been maintained or replaced as before. It is clear that Genesis does not invest in the cleanliness or upkeep at the same level as the previous owners.
lower prices, cleaner environment
Update equipment; update locker rooms (some locker doors don't work; toilet seats are chipped so they look dirty; door to handicap access stall is not hung correctly - there is a large gap between the edge of the door and the door frame so anyone walking into the toilet area can look right at the person sitting on that toilet (womens); provide enough accessories (resistance bands, cables, poles for balancing, etc.) so that groups don't continuously take from each other (if weight room floor has none of these, they are in the cross fit area or in the classrooms; if the classrooms are missing items they are on the weight room floor, etc.!); set aside some capital for replacing the HVAC system (I've been a member for many years and experienced the blazing hot days and the freezing cold days inside the gym and I work in property management so I understand the challenge of regulating the temperature of such a huge open space but it can be done with the right system!).
The audio on the channels from Topeka never works. The captions work but they are a pain. This is for channels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. I have asked about it several times. I like to watch Jeporady and it is difficult to read the questions. Also local news etc.
