Towels that are clean, Clean facility, Equipment maintenance on all equipment. Heaviest gear is broken or nasty.
Been a member for a while now. I would suggest the new owners invest some money into this location to make sure they keep it up to date. Mens lockers are a disaster. Doors hanging off, no keys, etc. Steam room is inconsistent - rarely works.
Side note, front desk staff should put down their phones a little more and be more engaging.
Thanks.
New, clean and great weights
Classes some are on the schedule and not happening at the club. Separate family lover rooms. Crying kids C in the women’s locker rooms going in for swim classes. Very distracting. Parents have kids in ladies locker Tom’s trying to n potty train in bathrooms. Don’t want to deal with that trying to get a break at the gym not more stress.
Tennis!
I like how you've improved the lighting in parts of the gym.
Also nice to have a consistent working air conditioning.
I'd like to see improvements in member etiquette.
1) Putting away weights
2) Cleaning benches
3) Less LOUD grunting when lifting
4) Using cell phones in locker room
I like it because it is very close to wear i live and it's really easy to get in and out. I also like it because it's not too big and I love all the machines.
All good. Friendly staff. Thanks.
It's open 24 hours. The gym is always clean.
I enjoy the suana.
The workers are very nice
great variety of classes and wonderful instructors
This gyms seems to have more "meat heads" that go to it than other Genesis locations. The location at 84th and Q is far better for my needs.
Central location. Usually isn't very busy . Ample parking.
I like how clean it is. Before the Sky/Genesis was in business, I went to early club way back then, and I forgot the name of it. I think it was Sedona Fitness on Harvard. It was filthy and dirty and no one cleaned it. The yoga room was filthy. In the middle of the floor of the yoga room was a pile of blue crystals. At first I thought it was some kind of cleaning detergent powder crystals, an assumption. That pile was never cleaned for 2 months and was always on the floor. My suspicions grew and I looked online, they were Crystal Meth, lying down on the floor in the yoga room, never cleaned for 2 months at Sedona Fitness.
That's why I like Genesis because it is clean and not gross like Sedona.
I love the location. It is highly convenient.
Swimming laps in the pool. However the hot tub isn't working properly, and hasn't been for quite a while. .
Good positive staff and friendly memembers.
Great cardio tennis classes!
I'm a 74 yr old professional woman & have been a member at 3 sites over 7 years, and used 4 others. I was ecstatic when the decision was made at the beginning of Covid to put in the Reme commercial grade anti-microbial ventilation!. I care for my mother (102), and needed to stay safe. I was singing Genesis praises everywhere!
Then you demoted one of the best staff & facility, membership sales & relations Managers--Jerry Birts & his extraordinarily organized Operations Coordinator Alexandria.Eric was wonderful also, and trained both of them. Instead of rewarding them you punished them with demotion--the zenith of BAD MANAGEMENT!
Everything has gone dramatically downhill since then. They can't keep any women staff, so what's going on there? .The women's shower room is filthy & towels pile up throughout the locker room. Turnover of male staff almost as bad, so NO front desk people know how things work or what to do. Washing machines are chronically overloaded & soapy water floods the hallway from locker rooms to the lobby, making VERY DANGEROUS, especially for handicapped patrons.
I have more than once wondered about the incompetency in charge at the regional office or beyond, since the Club is no longer the safe, enjoyable, well-run place where problems are easily reported & rapidly addressed.
Offer more classes after business hours during the week.
Just keep in touch with your customers. If you don't see them at the gym in awhile, text or email or contact them and ask them if everything is OK.
Construction is taking a lot longer than expected. It just feels dirty and the machines are old and worn down. I just wouldn't tell people to join until the construction is done.
Location
I enjoy the water aerobic classes!
1. Improve cleanliness of the facility. Restrooms, showers, locker rooms, work out areas are all very dirty.
2. Maintain machines to ensure they work correctly. Equipment is out of service far too often and for too long, then when it is "fixed" it still doesn't work right.
3. Replace broken/worn out equipment. (I.e. foam rollers are so used I have to bring my own, stretching bands are gone, pads for glute thrust or knees are disintegrating, etc.)
Fix the AC in the racquetball courts. It has been broke for like 6 months now. When you play in a humid court, the walls and floors get slick with the condensation and the ball moves/slides unexpectedly, which makes it very hard to play reasonably. Paint the walls in the basketball court. Paint is peeling off in large hunks and looks terrible. One of these days you will need to refinish the racquetball floors. This used to be done every year or so, but haven't seen it in a long time. The water spigot by the bar is marred by lime deposits and leaks when you try to get some water. The front fire sprinkler in court A is rusted and drips water onto the court. The thing needs to be replaced. General cleanliness of certain areas is an issue. It isn't all over the place, but need to keep on top of how clean the club looks.
Just a ton of deferred maintenance things that is making the club look really run down overall.
Over the years there have been no improvements - (correction, he towels were I proved). The blinds at the pool have been broken since 2015. The steam room is usually broken at this and the west central location. There are many many moore problems at the west central location but at least they are open later. If rock road was 24 hour during the week, it would be more convenient. If there is anything that can be done to keep my membership, it would be later pool availability hours and working steam rooms.
Love the variety of Group X classes that are offered. Group X coordinator is awesome. Wish there were separate dressing rooms in the Women's area like there was before the remodel. Enjoy the outdoor pool and classes in the summertime. Very well kept up this year compared to previous years.
I nave not been there, because of surgery and plenty of rehab.
The renovation is taking way too long
I can’t recommend til it is done
There are no showers and the one women’s bathroom is a sauna
The strategic planning for the entire renovation has been very poorly done
I think it will be a great gym…,,one day
Great place to work out. Individuals of all ages are in working out. You have your regulars mixed in with some newcomers. Easy place to enjoy a workout and an easy place to work out too. They have great machines and weights. Never too crowded.
