I like the hours, Staff is friendly and machines are in good working order!
People
amenities and the people. Remember Genesis corporate. Take care of your team. They are critical to your membership and success.
My trainer Henry is a superb trainer. His approach is customer friendly
Steam room in men's locker room needs to actually have steam.
Multiple times In the past I've expressed my concerns about your club and it's cleanliness and overall condition (before and during the renovation).
I want to say "Thank You". You club is now one of the best in the city. Keep up the good work.
The group classes, cleanliness of the showers and locker rooms, and the pool.
Friendly. Staff
As far as gyms go, it’s fine, the equipment is decent and it’s not overly crowded. Its no frills. My biggest issue is that it’s hot as heck in the gym if it’s over 70 degrees outside and it makes it almost impossible to get a good workout in. Maybe with some updates and a good a/c system it could be a nice gym again.
better cleaning. vacuum is needed down the hall by the racket ball courts and pick equipment that people don't put away. Young front desk people don't do much.
The tennis court upkeep isn't great. The roof leaks badly.
Fix A/C in studio 2!
Too crowded lately and the quality of the equipment keeps declining.
Why can't the club purchase enough chairs for every court to have 4?
Why can't we have clocks at the #5 end court and in each of the bubbles? How about having a clock in the lobby and maybe even one each in the dressing rooms?
Are we that poor?
Friendly staff.
Our main issue with this club is the temperature inside. It is uncomfortably hot even when it’s not that hot outside. In the past, there was at least fans upstairs to move air. We’ve been members for years and it’s never been this bad.
It has gotten cleaner in the last few months. Windows washed, crap picked up around the pool, it looks better.
I enjoy the aqua fitness program.
Towels are old. Towels feel like sandpaper. Genesis is short on towels for guest. Indoor swimming pool is ice cold!!!! I have experienced there were no towels for me when I checked in and I swim. Also, 4th of July short schedule of hours (closed 2 pm) for Overland Park's north Genesis Health. There were nearly 30 people still at the closing and they had to be rushed out of the club. Public pools were open until 4 pm on 4th of July. It didn't make sense too closed right after lunch. The service is terrible. Went in and no one at front desk. Towels left at pool side and laying on floor in pool area or inside on floor in men's locker room and wet towels draped on showers that were left there. Coors beer cans and Coors 12 pack box left at outside pool. Should be no alcohol allowed. I have been a member at Prairie Life for 20 years and now this facility owned by Genesis is certainly not customer friendly.
Plenty of equipment so there's no waiting.
The Boardwalk location is pretty much landlocked with no ability to expand its square footage. I came to Boardwalk Genesis from a fitness club which was significantly larger with significantly more strength training equipment. I made the move because Boardwalk is much, much closer to my home, and I understood and still do understand the trade-off I made regarding square footage and amount of available equipment. The staff at the reception desk is always very polite, and I run into some of my neighbors in the gym periodically.
My equipment priorities in any fitness club are #1 strength training equipment followed by #2 cardio options. I do not see that changing in the near future. I do not have any real complaints with Boardwalk Genesis, and am generally satisfied with my membership. My only wish-list item relates to the power racks/squat racks in Genesis Boardwalk. Boardwalk recently added 2 additional squat racks [1 adjustable rack and 1 non-adjustable rack] and I truly appreciate those additions. With those additions, Boardwalk now has 2 adjustable racks and 3 non-adjustable racks. My only wish [again, it's a wish and not a complaint] is that the 3 non-adjustable racks in Boardwalk be replaced with traditional racks which have not only adjustable catches but adjustable safety arms/pins as well. I enjoy squatting as part of leg day, and because the safety arms cannot be moved up or down on the non-adjustable racks, I do not utilize the non-adjustable racks in Boardwalk. I prefer to have the safety arms adjusted to where I know I can bring the bar down onto the safety arms and step out from under the bar during a repetition if that need ever arises. I don't believe the height of the safety arms in the non-adjustable racks would allow me to safely to that. It appears to me that the non-adjustable racks in Boardwalk continue to receive very little use, while the 2 adjustable racks seem to always have folks waiting for them to become available.
It's not a complaint. New/pre-owned adjustable racks cost money, and I doubt they are inexpensive. It just a wish.
Outdoor tennis courts are in bad condition. Trees are hanging over courts and we have asked to have them trimmed so they do not interfere with the ball but it does not get done. Fence covers are torn and/or falling down. Camp children play loudly right next to court 5. Climb in tree. Very distracting.
Wastebaskets are missing or falling off. Score cards
are falling off.
There was a huge hose laying on the sidewalk leading up to the steps by court 7 for days waiting for someone to trip on it.
Friends who came from Highland Meadows for a match told me they were surprised by the poor condition the courts were in.
It is disappointing.
Pickleball, Thrive tennis program and affordable weightlifting in this order.
Not notifying gym members of class schedule changes
-Having to reserve the pool the day before
I would like the showers to work in the men's locker room. Most of them are too hard to turn on and then they are scalding hot. There are only a few that work as they should.
You're the only one with pool and hot tub/sauna area, employees are friendly
I don’t know
Provide more of dance class and offer cardio kickboxing type class
The women’s locker room is almost as hot as outside and there’s no way to get changed and ready after a workout in there
There are never any towels clean at the front desk. They are always “in the wash”. This could easily be remedied by getting more towels.
Hot yoga, or a variety of yoga classes aren’t offered at this location.
The water fountains are in desperate need of cleaning
Purchase all new towels for the pool. They are generally dingy and dirty and there is never enough. New tile and plumbing in the showers would be great.
I love the energy at the gym
