Lots of equipment, 2 floors plus tennis courts and ball court. elevator for the older customers.
Updated and tread mills. 3 lane pool, steam room in both locker rooms.
updated juice and energy shake bar
Excellent trainers and helpful staff
FIx parking lot, shower curtains in women's locker room.
Free towels
I like the location and the pool! I rarely use any of the other fitness areas so the pool is the main reason I go to Genesis. It is also an added bonus to have towels and shower amenities available. The parking lot is really full of pot holes and I'm hoping these are going to be repaired. Knowing there is a new building going in to replace the old Grandmother's Restaurant makes me nervous about future parking and availability of this site. Shout out to Aaron and Gracie who have the most welcoming personalities and make coming to the Club enjoyable! Thank you!
Fix the showers. Even after the remodel they did not change. Keep up with general maintenance. And the towel service is not what it was when I signed up (when the facility was Prairie Life).
thank
Ps. The remodeled 84th and Q facility is quite nice. I would only suggest that they add fans and towel racks in the locker rooms (I suspect that is in progress)
Currently the air conditioning in the racquetball courts has been in need of repair for weeks now. This past winter the heat didn’t work and it took weeks to get it fixed. Last summer the air conditioning was also malfunctioning for weeks before it was repaired. The floors are rarely swept and really need to be refinished. Paint is peeling off the walls in the gym. I hate to be so critical, but the general upkeep at the gym recently is the worst it has been since I have been a member.
Cutting of masters swim program was the final blow. Others, outdoor pool water was filthy and cloudy. The indoor pool water is similarly cloudy and has awful venting. The outdoor pool had a delayed opening, it used to be open year round.
Since the genesis acquisition of Miramont, the gym has gone downhill. Sorely disappointed.
Genesis North Overland Park has the best selection by of weight training equipment in the area.
Tennis is the best it’s ever been, from the offering to the pros. Excellent.
Dry hot in the gym area
I like the equipment and the look and feel. I wish the group fitness classes were better. Yoga classes have low attendance and cycling classes are in a dark room but lights are left on. I’d prefer a more studio feel
Variety
Club feels "tired" - machines are often not in order, things are dirty, chairs at pool are ripped.
Less costly, more variety in classes.
I’ve noticed some “housekeeping” things that could use some attention, which I attribute to challenges in finding people who are willing to work. Some examples: a number of missing locker doors in the men’s locker room, stains from spilled drinks in the carpet in the men’s locker room, gravel and other debris on the sidewalk outside the tennis court fence from when snow removal crews dumped snow on the walk last winter (rains have washed off most of it now), and 2 to 3 showers that are either not working or lacking in some other way, such as a missing shower head. I do commend you in maintaining an adequate number and selection of exercise equipment available and in good working order.
Better care to fix broken machines
The atmosphere
The cleaning stations are often missing paper towels, meaning the equipment is not as clean as it could be. There are also often not enough small towels at the front desk when I walk in.
Facilities
Everyone and the classes
There isn't enough paper towels/spray/wipes to clean the equipment after using it. The locker rooms aren't clean. There was only one bathroom stall that was working for almost 2 weeks in the men's locker rooms. Most of the TV monitors on the treadmills and ellipticals don't work. Overall the maintenance of the facility has been lacking since Genesis took over ownership.
the club needs to be remodeled inside and the landscaping needs to be refreshed with new mulch etc.
I would also like to see an additional Dance Tribe class offered.
There’s often equipment out of order or missing parts at the Aksarben location.
The amount of weight and cardio equipment. The people, the staff, and the price.
Clean
Indoor courts
Was unhappy with last two personal trainers
How friendly the staff and members are.
Took a break from Genesis due to covid. Issues before that @hutch with frequently broken equipment (especially Precor). Still the same problem at that location. Out of the entire row of open stride machines, only one able to log in. Slow to address repairs.
Seems as though Hutch location is an afterthought to the organization. Would be nice if that location was maintained to same standard as other locations (like rock road in wichita). Makes it hard to recomnend the Genesis brand overall.
