After several requests for daytime weekday classes, I applaud you in the Monday and Friday classes ( I am currently unavailable for Tuesdays and Thursdays when youget seemto to have all you daytime strength trading classes, until now).
Now if we just keep these going, and possibly add some type of strength training class on Wednesday morning, I would REALLY be appreciative!
Bravo for the two classes you did recently schedule though...
The pool is more consistently being maintained. No more cloudy days where I couldn't see the lane line.
Provide more barbell type free weights space. It feels crowded by the main free weight area and there are never enough benches to use.
I like the machines, and the overall environment of the gym.
tennis and it is updated.. OP location off Metcalf ....
The lap pool and there are usually squat racks open. Easy to get in and out quickly when in a hurry.
It’s EXTREMELY hot in the workout area/gym. It’s just uncomfortable to be in there for long. With all the sweating and smelly people mixed with the heat. It’s very uncomfortable to be there
How nice the facility is - new equipment, spacious, spread out
The clocks in the building don't work. They have been not working for almost 2 years! The indoor courts have almost no ventilation for the summer. There have been no cosmetic improvements.
The equipment breaks down quite a bit and it’s not fixed in a timely fashion. The equipment is not cleaned as often as it should - especially given Covid. Treadmills are very dirty by the belt with dust, sweat and hairs. There’s a lot of dirt under the stair stepping equipment.
Also when entering the building staff does not greet people, i.e., no good morning nor hello. If staff is standing behind the counter visiting with each other you’re petty much ignored. Not a very warm and welcoming feeling. There’s only one lady who says good morning - each time that I’ve noticed.
All forms of workout and exercise in one spot.
Most equipment has been updated. Enough equipment and space to handle peak loads of members. It's kept clean and tidy
Price, Options, Hours. Please keep on the cleaning. That's the only issue I hear about.
I think the bathrooms and locker room can be cleaner and working
The club was disorganized, and I was stood up by a trainer. That is why I went back to the "PLC" Genesis facility. I am very happy at my current location.
The trainers. Kramer Eggemeyer is really knowledgeable and knows his stuff!
It’s new clean and the staff are friendly and I have a good trainer
Better communication, i.e. when a group fitness class is cancel due to instructor being sick and/or no sub available or if the schedule class is being changed due to a different instructor teaching another format of class, letting members know via Facebook or portal. There’s been times that members would be in class and wait for 10-15 minutes and there would be no instructor cause sick or no sub and the front desk attendant doesn’t know anything about it cause there’s been no communication. There has been rumors that Genesis is thinking of getting rid of the Les Mills classes and that would be a hugh mistake. You would lose members who stuck around when Genesis took over the Aspen Athletic gyms and the YMCA (the south suburban location) because they stayed for the instructors and classes. No mention that possibility of losing instructors who teaches the Les Mills class and many of the instructors teach more than 1 format of the Les Mills classes.
Equipment shortages:
Only one lying leg curl machine, only a handful of the treadmills operate as designed (belts stick, motors are rundown, buttons are not working properly, etc.), only one dip bar, need squat racks separate from deadlift area (“powerlifters” are camping out on the racks one set every five minutes), only one decline/adjustable sit up bench, stair mills have button issues and some are not leveled so they rock/wobble when being used.
Seriously consider opening Merriam twenty four hours as the gym was originally, which would mitigate the crowd rush and bottleneck.
Instagramers, texters, videographers and the like are homesteading on equipment or “saving” multiple pieces of equipment. They refuse to share when asked. There are so many knuckleheads doing this that working out has become prohibitive.
Thank you for your time.

I joined the gym for lap swimming at the outdoor pool and also signed up for personal training, and a few things have disappointed: 1) The pool's condition has been fair to mixed during the summer. On a couple days, the pump seemed broken (the pool was too cloudy to see, too full of bugs, with a thick layer of oily grime on top). On another day I showed up and the pool was closed due to chemical issues. 2) The outdoor pool schedule that was given to me at the time I joined the gym at the beginning of the summer proved to be inaccurate. There originally was a two hour morning lap swim block listed on Friday mornings from 7-9, which appealed to me. However, when I showed up and got in the water, the swim team coach informed me that I was not allowed to swim during that time, regardless of what the schedule listed. The gym has since updated the schedule, eliminating that lap swim block on Friday but not replacing it with another designated lap swim time. This means that I have less opportunity for lap swim, and the only other morning lap swim time is too early for my schedule (5-6 am). 3) The master's lite swim class is also listed on the schedule, but when I showed up to participate, I learned that there is no instructor. This information also was not told to me when I joined. 4) I signed up for personal training sessions at the gym. The trainer has texted me on a few occasions to try to reschedule, although when I said I couldn't reschedule he did show up. Today, he called me as I was driving to the gym for our training session and cancelled due to a corporate retreat. He did offer to reschedule for another week, but did not offer to give me a free class or refund me for the one class. Since clients are still charged when they cancel training sessions within 24 hours, I feel that the gym should similarly refund or give an extra free session when the trainer cancels within 24 hours, particularly when it's not due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstances. While I have enjoyed swimming and training at the gym, I would definitely switch if another facility with an outdoor lap pool becomes available.
The price per membership
The club has consistently went down hill since Genesis took over. Employees standing around. Trash was in the same shower for two days in a row. (on multiple occasions) No spin classes over lunch. No flexibility in memberships. (single day pass, etc) With the pandemic and people having flexible work schedules, you will need to evolve or you will go the way of block buster. Genesis is to fitness clubs as Great Life is to golf courses. Once another option becomes available, I will be moving.
good staff and plenty of machines
The gym equipment seems to be showing it’s age and the facility just isn’t as nice and clean as it was before Covid. The other day no small towels were available in the gym. I witnessed a gym employee busy checking the tik toks on his phone in the mens lock room multiple times while not doing any work. It use to be something to say you had a Membership at Miramont but now it’s no better then anyplace else, the south gym is the one I’m speaking of.
Great locations and amenities at a good value.
It would be helpful if the 5:30 pm classes could be just a bit later. A couple were recently added at 5:45 on Tuesday and Thursday which was great. Now I wish there was a 5:40 ish option for Monday and Wednesday.
The pool area, the deck is popping up in some places
I train with Morgan McGill during the week and I love it! The staff and members are all so nice. Its a great place to decompress over my lunch breaks! 10/10, highly recommend!
Some of the equipment is showing its age, especially the seats on strength equipment. Most importantly, other than the gal at the front desk in the morning, the staff is not overly friendly. I've been a member for years and am there at least 3 days per week, but no one seems to even know who I am. Staff should be taught the 10-foot rule: If you are within 10 feet of a member, you should smile and say hi. It's simple and means so much. None of the staff seems to want to interact with members.
-Age and condition of equipment
-lack of air conditioning. This summer the gym is extremely warm.
