everything
Cleanness, friendly employees and hours
Huge improvements in the last year from lockers on men's side being unlocked upon arrival. Prior to that, many would 'lock' the lockers so they could not be used. Very frustrating. Haven't run out of towels in many months - prior to the last year of so, towels were usually at a premium...not many clean & available.
The manager is a great guy and runs a very good operation.
Clean group exercise room better
I joined that club for the streamer. I have not yet been able to use it and it has been almost two years I drive 25min to get there and it's always broken but it's going to be fixed next week I walked in there Wednesday because I was told that it should be working. Nope, it was not so I got my stuff and walked right back out. I
don't like to work out there because it's always full of just men and it makes me uncomfortable to go over that very small area
Step aerobics class and a dedicated women's weight lifting space.
The locker rooms are always dirty, there are no small towels in work-out rooms. When toilets break it takes ages to get repaired. The outside swimming pool area is abandoned and the pool is dirty and the water is cold.
I am also paying a high price compared to the new members. How come I will recommend this mediocre gym to a friend?! It’s sad for me to see this, I would love genesis south to be what it was before the change of owners.
It has everything I want. The 78th and Cass location is the best.
*The building was uncomfortably warm.
*One NuStep machine is not enough when you serve an aging clientele.
Bikes in cycle class have been in need of repair for months. The list of problems are listed in book in cycle room.
Fantastic desk staff! Great tennis programs. Excellent pros! Monthly fee inexpensive.
Genisis has failed to manage the club. It is not as clean, does not excel in being customer centric, and is minimal at best to be a gym.
1)Towels are getting thin and sparce since Genisis took over from One Life.
1) locker room are not clean
,3)no access to TV or Music' on elliptical or treadmill,
3) No antispetice wipes for equipment,
4) Yoga and rooms for classes are dirty... hair, fuzz balls, grit from shoes is all over the floor
5) lack of customer service... you can walk in and out and no one notices you.. staff is talking, on their phones or non existent when you check
6) equipment constantly broken and signs not to use
I have been a committed member for 6 years and ready to walk. Genisis feels like a place that cares more about the bottom line than their customers experience or a gym for fitness
Open the steam room, sauna and whirlpool
Keep the facility clean (urinals, workout space, locker rooms, etc). I come at 5 am & the workout area usually is strewn with used towels, paper towels, bottles, weights not put away, etc. Previously the spaces mentioned were kept up well. Carpet in the workout area wearing out, rubber linings to the carpet pulled off and left unreplaced, etc
The full pools
Since Genesis took over:
The TV's on the equipment don't work, the towels are sparse and not as clean, there are no longer wet wipes provided, machines are often broken and mats are splitting, one of the drinking fountains provides warm water rather than cold.
Finish the bathrooms
I think the instructors are good.
I’m curious as to what’s up with the cable channels on the cardio equipment. When we started our membership, there was a wider selection of channels. Now it only looks like 3 or 4 channels are accessible/working. Everything’s great otherwise.
Friendly staff. Especially tennis pros.
Clean facility
I have to bring a lot of equipment depending on location. Such as bands, jump rope, foam roller. It varies from location. A suggestion would be adding those things to the locations that lack supplies. And if it’s a matter of items not being returned opt in a check out system.
Main issue the past couple of the months has been the air conditioning. It’s very warm in the main workout area, especially in the cardio area. Installing fans would help with air flow. Basic maintenance needs to be improved in the bathrooms. Maintenance needs to be improved on machines, such as with the rowing machines only one works (doesn’t make noise or the feet part isn’t falling apart). The stationary bikes seats are cracking and some are missing water bottle holders.
The club is in great shape after the remodel, I really like the new equipment, and Angie continues to be a great trainer.
Made it quick an easy to change my name and get a new card for checkin- first time back since we updated our company's membership
Location, staff, cleaniness and number of machines.
I do mainly classes and had been asked for feedback in December before the onelife/genesis switch. I asked for more classes, they used to do a cycle and sculpt (30 min spin, 30 min barre), and also they used to have hiit that was really upbeat and fun with a great instructor and soul cycle like spin classes verse more les mills style (not as fun). The barre classes I’ve taken have not even utilized the barre which was disappointing and it would be great to offer a pop yoga or more upbeat class. Also more class times! None of this was done and actually some of my favorite classes were taken off the schedule (hitt and a butts and guts weight training class). I only go for bodypump now. Would love to see more changes made! The gym used to be really busy and bumping and it is no longer the case.
