The care and service

The care worker who I had was excellent. The telephone interview prior to care was excellent as well.

The care givers were professional. The fee is a little high.

Kennedy, the LPN that helps Monday to Thursday is professional, warm, friendly and very good at her job. My experience with Regina on Sunday is similar. Marika from head office has also been consistently friendly and professional.

The service was great however it can be costly with the minimum 3 hours. Also that we cannot split the 3 hours up in the day.

Nurse Next Door is amazing. My sister lives in B.C. and needs lots of help that I cannot provide from Ontario. We now have someone that can accompany my sister to the bank, shopping and Doctor's visits. The peace of mind, knowing that she is safe when she leaves home, is wonderful. Nurse Next Door is easily accessible, responsive and the communication has been great. As a family we really appreciate them.

Our main caregiver, Jacqueline is never late, very helpful.
If I call the office for schedule change it is dealt with smoothly.

Immediate ability to come to the aid of a patient without days of procedure ... care first ... paper second.

Easy to do business with and care provider is prompt, courteous & friendly.

Lack of clear English on some, way too much time spent on private phone, lack of North American cooking skills and not listening to my requests. With the above being said there were 3 ladies of which one (Marcia) went above and beyond on every thing. She did not wait for instructions, her meals were delicious and she could see and/or anticipate and is a wonderful asset to your company. One woman took photos of 2 upstairs bedrooms without asking permission. I thought that was completely out of line and it makes me wonder what else she was into.

nice to have someone available to show up every day . just need more training for the replacement caregivers when the normal one is unavailable, not fair to them really they have never met the patient and don't know what is required, perhaps more information to them before they start would help. Only the original one had info before starting.

My parents have had caregivers from Nurse Next Door for the last 7 years. This support has allowed them to remain safely in their home, while giving my brother and I some respite.

It took a long time to fill a regular Sat. aft/eve position and several times we were given less than 24 hours notice that it couldn't be filled. Since the caregiver was in place, we have been very happy with scheduling, communication, and that actual caregivers themselves.

We were able to connect my mom with a very kind, gentle and caring companion. She has been a blessing to have in my mother's adjustment to being in a care home. Nurse next door was flexible in adjusting the visit times to suit my mother's needs.

Although the individual care givers have been fine, the scheduling is disorganized, messages we communicate do not get passed on, people do not return phone calls and we are repeatedly advised that a care aid is unavailable at the last minute - I don't mean last minute cancellations due to snow or illness, I mean being advised at 9:00pm the night before a long scheduled visit that they "haven't been able to find someone"... yet I am given no advance notice of any problems. It has been continually disappointing but nothing will improve because there is no competition we can take our business to and so we are "stuck with it".

staff member was willing to perform any duties but my post surgical recovery was better than anticipated. only used service once. also, intial consult was cancelled due to a mix up.

The care part is great. It is the scheduling part that has become more uncertain. In the prior two requests I had not heard back on how the search was going. I had to call the day before each time to find out. They haven't found anyone and they ask if I would like them to continue. I understand that finding a care aid is not guaranteed but it would be better if I had more time than the night before. It seems that we need to have another company as a backup but they wouldn't appreciate the short notice of finding someone. My wife doesn't need a constant day(s) yet so that makes it difficult to schedule a routine, yet. Thank you.
