Need more staff for the dogs playing so that active ones aren’t crated so much and so they clean up the pee and poop faster. Someone overnight present with the dogs. Operational cameras.

The facility had a strong odoar, and my dog was sprayed with some perfume before returning to me. We value low-toxicity care and there was no warning she would be sprayed before I saw her again. I was very saddened to see that the dogs do not get daily access to the outdoors, while there is an outdoor area, I was told it is only reserved for Wednesdays. I was planning on having her stay 8:30am - 9:15pm on Mondays, but that is an excessively long time to be in one room that was overcrowded and had no quiet space away from other animals and no open-air access. (I was told Mondays they do not go outside). Lastly, the only option was for the dogs to 'potty' in the middle of the room on the floor. This is unsanitary, despite someone there to clean up after, and is a habit I cannot enforce while my dog is currently in service dog training. I cannot chance her learning this habit and then going 'potty' in public space on the floor.
At the very least, the staff was curteous and kind. However, it felt severely under staffed for as many dogs they are caring for.
Management has changed and is very responsive
1. Cameras do not always work. 2. 2 acquaintances said their active and energetic dogs were crated too often so they stopped bringing them there. Their saying this concerned me. I don’t have the time to continually check the cameras all day long to make sure this isn’t happening to my dog, though I did see my dog crated in the camera at one point. My dog is good at self regulating so should not be crated beyond the 12-2 p.m. time frame. They may crate dogs because they don’t have enough staff to supervise highly active and playful dogs. 3. They don’t always answer the phone. 4. We largely use a different doggy day care because they have someone who sleeps there at night. It makes sense for my dog to be comfortable thru consistent attendance in a place we would use for boarding, and we would only use a place for boarding that has someone physically present at night. I heard about both the heat and air conditioning going out at night (different incidences) and this was not caught by video camera. Plus if a dog gets sick they may not realize it. 5. Sometimes they do not clean up as quickly as they should and could, and instead walk around a puddle of pee for too long before cleaning it. The dogs step in the pee and then when playing with other dogs get the pee all over them and it smells. 6. Not easy to figure out how to reach the regional manager. 7. They don’t always time frame for part time day is too rigid, only 7-12 or 2-7. Would be great to have more flexibility, say for a 2-5 hour drop off window.
My dog always has a great time at Dogtopia. She loves playing with the other dogs and loves the coaches who do a good job of supervising the dogs and making sure things stay calm. I appreciate that even though I only go once a week, the staff remembers me (and my dog) when I walk in. I really appreciate having Dogtopia available for my energetic and highly social dog.
Very friendly staff. Drop off and pick up are smooth.
My only concern is that the toybox room has no fresh outside air.
Otherwise, very satisfied with my experience so far.

I like that my dog comes home tired. I’m glad he’s got doggie friends his age to play with. We haven’t gotten a chance to take him during an event day but I think that’s cute that they have those special days.
My dogs are watched and they have a good time.

I like that there is someone in with the dogs to 'supervise' them. The staff is very friendly and the special days are fun. Only downside is, it seems to be getting a little crowded in the rooms.
The flexibility, it’s environmentally controlled, and it allows my dog to socialize with other dogs.

They are very personable and friendly, they know me and my dog by name, and they are always giving helpful little “reports” of how he did that day!
I never have to worry about my dog when he is there, the employees are so attentive and they also have cameras for when I want to check in and watch him play with his friends.
