I am a senior citizen so my membership is free. I enjoy exercising in the pool. I love going to Soundview!
Clean, with lots of natural light. Staff is friendly and offer a variety of programs for all fitness levels. It’s a good place to be.
The instructor is very patient and encouraging to the kids. She is really helps kids understand the skills they are learning by using its proper name but also using kid appropriate language for them to recall the skill. Once they are familiar with it, they start using the proper terms. My kids absolutely love this class. The instructor is very involved and genuinely loves teaching and getting to know my girls.
Would love a pool at this location! And swim classes.

There are too many old naked men in the locker room. One guy walked fully naked from the lockers to the urinal and used the urinal naked and barefoot. Disgusting.
Isn't there a no jean policy in the gym? Why is there often a guy wearing jeans Friday evenings at the gym?
Men using the pool in general walk up to the urinal barefoot and its disgusting.
I signed up for the swim lessons on Friday evenings and had to miss one class and asked the instructor if I could join one of her other days instead. She said yes but the the aquatic instructor said no. I'm not sure why. It was a one and first time ask. Seemed reasonable request to me.
Otherwise, the YMCA is great and your building is great
I primarily use the Soundview YMCA in Branford for the Water Fit classes. Unfortunately, there are too many class cancellations (often only on the morning of the class). Members need to be able to rely on an instructor being present on the scheduled days and times. We pay a monthly fee for these classes and expect a reliable schedule in return. Clearly, there are not enough instructors or substitutes to conduct the classes. The classes are enjoyable and helpful in maintaining health and flexibility. This has been an ongoing issue in the Water Fit classes and must be resolved to maintain current memberships.
The Y is pretty clean, the front desk staff is friendly, I enjoy the workout classes, and my daughter enjoys the pool. This become “third place” for my family after home and school. We enjoy that there are other people from the community that we know there and our child makes friends there. We have enjoyed going to some of the events like the Easter egg hunt and the open house. Swim lessons are pretty good and the pool is pretty good. It’s really nice that it’s so large. We also appreciate the private family bathrooms for showering and changing.

1. Should allow an adult member’s mother to be part of the family subscription.
2. When someone takes a long break, like a month or two, an online form shall be available to request not being charged for that period. Current manual process is cumbersome and inaccurate. Such members coming back from a sabbatical shall not be charged again the 100 $ fees.

Have classes for kids. There are no classes for kids. It's all for older adults.
Fitness classes
Everything! Especially the exercise classes, aqua Zumba and the pool.
The vacation club when schools are closed is a life saver for parents that both work. The parents night out are great. Amazing for $25 or so. Our son loves going and can't wait for summer camp.
From the front desk staff; to the array of classes for every type of person; to the encouraging, knowledgable, helpful teachers; and the members, I’m so happy we joined the Woodruff YMCA!
the daycare is wonderful, the faciities are great and clean (the cleaning staff (lady) works very hard). The pool is enjoable.

Update building
More trained coaches. More individualized coaching. All the kids are mixed and some of them have not built the skills they need.
Coach Jane and Coach Liliana (? Apologies as I don’t remember her name but she is great) are awesome coaches. Encouraging and totally meeting the kids where they are especially the little little ones. My daughter looks forward to gymnastics every Saturday morning!
My son really enjoyed the class.
Aquatic classes and all staff are wonderful
You have a strong demand for lap swimming that you have not met. I joined, hoping to use the lap lanes and they’re overcrowded and just not available.
