Clean pool and locker room , the woman who cleans is so dedicated and pleasant friendly staff
I love the pool. All staffs are super friendly too!
I joined for the water aerobics classes. I would like to see some late afternoon evening classes that are more challenging.
The sound system in the pool is TERRIBLE. It is difficult to hear the instructor and the sound bounces off the back wall. Between the instructor and the music it is often inaudible.
One of the instructors, shouldn't be teaching and I won't attend her class.
Inclusivity
Friendly Knowledgeable staff, clean facility.
The pool and aqua classes are excellent.
Love the instructors and classes.
A good place to make new friends.
The facility, its clean and beautiful!! the really great people that work there!
All the classes offered.
I was recently charged a $30.00 late payment fee. After the fee was assessed, I contacted my bank to investigate the matter, and they confirmed that sufficient funds were available in my account at the time of the attempted payment.
I then spoke with a representative at the Soundview YMCA, who informed me that the late fee had been assessed correctly. She advised me to contact the office located at 1240 Chapel Street in New Haven for further assistance. I left a voicemail message at that office several weeks ago requesting a return call, but as of today, I have not received any response.
This situation has been very confusing, as I have received conflicting information. The YMCA indicated that the issue originated with my bank, while my bank stated that the problem was related to the YMCA’s payment processing.
The Woodruff YMCA should accept Aetna coverage for senior members as they do for other healthcare providers. Unfortunately many seniors are on severely limited budgets and are unable to justify an additional expense. Consequently, a significant segment of our areas population is denied access to an important local resource.
Community. People are so warm and welcoming. Maggie R is an amazing teacher.
I liked the other teacher I had a class with as well. Still have a lot more classes to explore.
We generally kove the Woodruff Y. Recent changes to the aquatics program have been frustrating. We attempted to communicate with the new director about class-related confusions and miscommunications and found the responses to be deflective and dismissive. Just a very unfortunate scenario as we have grown, over the years, to appreciate Wiodruff’s aquatic programming, thoughtful instructors, and all around quality of facility and leadership, to be the place we “wanted” our kids to fall in love with swimming. In terms of improvement, it may be worthwhile to analyze the swim class processes and how this is communicated to members. Stated prior, I tried to explain this issue with the director in a rational manner, but to no avail. I would be happy to explain in more detail.
Better communication to members
In the main exercise room the free weights go from 5 lbs to 8 lbs. It would be nice to have a few 6 lb and 7 lb weights.
A variety of classes for everyone.
Excellent facility, clean and always updated. Extremely well run, with many programs for adults and children.
Professional and courteous
Friendly staff and members
I like the classes offered
I enjoy the aquatic workout classes.
Lockers are dated. Biggest challenge for us is the steps from the bathroom to the pool and even the external steps. It makes navigating more work to ensure my elderly father does not stumble.
The people at the facility are excellent. The equipment is well maintained even slightly dated.
The front desk staff especially Dorothy is fabulous. The pool is always clean, except sometimes a bit over chlorinated. Everyone is so friendly and the facility is top notch
The pool
Everyone is very friendly
Great facility for the community. Using the pool is a real pleasure.
The swimming pool
The staff are wonderful and super pleasant
The family changing rooms for our son with severe autism
The Aqua Zumba classes
And so much more
The facilities and classes offered at WFYMCA provide the full range of opportunities I need to reach my fitness goal. I'm 73 and newly retired. Over the past twenty years I haven't worked consistently or hard enough to maintain my health. I am finally catching up with the help of Woodruff Family YMCA.
Cleaners to class instructors to the people manning the desk, the WFYMCA staff is welcoming and always helpful. I love the mix of ages and fitness levels. The kids bring great energy (and so many smiles). Working out with all ages is both motivating and educational.
I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities WFYMCA offers me.
Update the facility; offer more active older adult classes
The pool and gym
