After visiting this location over the last 10 years, for any falls related to my ALS illness. I have never been treated with such disrespect by both the nurse (Diane) and Doctor on duty (Dr Dryden). It was only addressed when I said I wanted to speak with the leadership team who have oversight for the Emergency Department. My wife and others on the Baylor staff that day 3/4/24; saw and heard what happened. I was questioned in a way like; well, why are you here and did not go to the ER when you fell? I explained why, because having dealt with this Terminal illness for over 12 years now, and per follow ups with my Doctors at both Mayo Clinic and UT Southwestern; there is a checklist I went through with EMS when we called them to our home. I was alert, coherent; however, I was not able to stand properly due to the muscle fatigue in my legs and back trying to get up after falling.
Dr Dryden storms out of the ER room where my wife and I were when I alerted him to my concerns and how I felt regarding my treatment. He proceeded to argue and not listen. So, the nurse Natalie, and Supervisor Carol saw what happened.
He later comes back, now with a facemask on which he had not worn prior to my initial encounter. Which is a lack of concern for my health since I was already wearing a facemask. He proceeded to lean over near me while I was laying on the stretcher, and I got up and told him to back up and give me some space. I felt as if he wanted to have a physical altercation.
The debating went back and forth now for about 45 minutes, and then I told him how about apologizing for your behavior? Then suddenly he changes his behavior, and I stated your other colleagues I have visited with in the past for previous falls due to my Lou Gehrig's illness have a much better bedside manner than he does. I also informed him he does not know me, and I do not know him. However, I will not tolerate any disrespect towards me or my wife. I told Dr Dryden your, acting as if I am trying to do something unethical? His response was I have no idea what that means? A doctor said this is very troubling and scary. I proceeded to define the word UNETHICAL FOR HIM!
I obliged him (Dr Dryden); to further discuss in front of another ER nursing supervisor and then after another round of discussion he apologizes and extends his hand to me to shake. I shook his hand and moved on. So, my wife and I can just leave after I confirmed I am ok after x-rays, and CT scan of my head. No other physical triage or bloodwork was performed. I left your facility with a disappointing impression that shift was not at your facility to work. I also, filed an ADA complaint against this facility for my treatment since I am permanently disabled due to my illness. I hope Baylor Scott reexamines their staff and performance standards, so this does not ever happen again to another family genuinely seeking medical care.

Staff
I felt every staff member that I came across was very friendly and took great care of me.
The efficiency and the personal one-on-one care that I received from the moment I came in the door until I was discharged and taken to my car. I have no complaints about anything or anyone who dealt with me. This is one of many trips I have made to this Hospital since 2004 all for day surgery type things.
Horrible service
Overall.
Facility not “ connected “ to all other BSW facilities. Providers not familiar with protocols for handling a patient who has just had bypass surgery. Didn’t listen to patient description of what happened . Took 2 hrs to get an x ray result . 6 staff members literally sitting around doing nothing . Dr on duty not identified with any credentials displayed ( no name tag ). Discharged with direction to take ibuprofen when that is not allowed for post bypass care/ patient in blood thinners. Zero relief solutions offered… patient already taking significant pain meds but it wasn’t taking away pain for the knee injury we came to the ER for … just said ice, elevate & continue taking current meds.
Really uncaring & ineffective 4 hrs in this ER.
The people

Excellent doctors, nurses, and staff. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. I have never been in a nicer place. Cleanliness and facilities were perfect. My wife and I were comfortable wherever we were.

The professionlism and courteousy.
Every person along the way was so friendly and helpful. From the reception desk to the OR, I felt valued.
Best labor and postpartum nurses. They make the process very easy.

Completely disregarded my concernes and made me feel like I was wasting time in the ER. Never offered a cat scan when i complained of confusion and extreme abdominal pain and dississive of my overall condition.
