Great service sorted a mechanical issue with my bike while I waited on a busy Saturday. Thanks to Harry and Robbie for getting me back out in the weekend sunshine.
Big Bear in Pickering is our local bike shop and my wife and I have bought three bikes there between us. We always spend a good while thinking over a new purchase and might go in several times when considering it. They give you space and time and you never feel pressurised to reach a decision. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and most of them seem to be keen bikers themselves. They are happy to spend time with you and give helpful advice. I get the sense that it genuinely matters to them that you end up with a bike you're happy with.
I would add that on several occasions over the years when my wife or I have dropped in with a problem and expecting to have to leave the bike, they have, instead, sorted out it on the spot - even though they were obviously busy at the time. It's been our experience that, if it's not a big job, they're prepared to be obliging and get you going there and then if possible.
From looking around on-line, I don't think that big Bear are necessarily the cheapest, but - for us - the in-store experience and the quality of subsequent customer care and service more than compensate for that: it's the reason why we keep going back.
