Here's the straight dope - Bicycle Habitat in Brooklyn (but not the one on Lafayette in NYC) has a reputation of be snooty. I was hesitant to bring my bike there, but I was too lazy to go to the other bike shop. We have a saying about going into the store: "prepare to be humiliated."

But, I was very happy to experience a really nice, helpful staff.

I admit that I still have some (small t) trauma from previous encounters so I am cautious. But this was a pleasant interaction so I hope it continues and I hope that the store can turn around this reputation.

Everyone is so very helpful. And interested in making sure what you want actually happens. Friendly and knowledgeable. I First name removed't think I would ever go anywhere else for may biking needs.

I love both Bicycle Habitat locations. The employees are very knowledgeable and have fixed up my bike many times since I’ve been in Brooklyn. I’m always impressed with the breadth of expertise the employees have and I will continue coming back as long as I’m biking in the city. Couldn’t imagine Brooklyn without them!
