He also recommended a charcoal water filtration system to ensure that our water softener performs well for many years, and we are very happy with both Systems.

The product maintenance is once a year and it seems durable.
Only complaint is that the battery holder 'should' be constructed in a stronger fashion. Maybe put a tighten down lid that is threaded or snapped in place. I have to tape mine in place each time we change the batteries.
