The proposal I received for a platform deck was $18k - $22k, which appears to be about twice the typical cost for this type of deck.

Later I wanted to cancel (nothing to do with you) and emailed you. Again, no response.

Your estimate lacks sufficient detail to be useful to a potential customer. For example, you specify #57 stone but not how many tons you expect to use. You specify an area of coverage of 250' x 12' but you don't specify how many inches will be applied. Also, there is no mention of including the parking pad in the coverage area.
I don't understand why you need to grade. It is gravel. It doesn't need to be perfectly flat or pitched 6" in 10'!
$8000 is ridiculously high. Gravel is cheap. If all you were to do is lay the gravel, this would take less than 4 hours total time from material pick up to finished job.

The price quoted was outrageous! $3200 for about 15 feet of wood railing on the entrance of our home was so far out of bounds that I laughed. The last time I had the wood railing replaced 7 years ago cost $750. The estimator kept saying that the cost of wood has skyrocketed which is why it makes it expensive. I estimated the cost of wood to be no higher than $200…which means $3,000 in labor for 12 hours worth of work…tops! He tried to rip me off….
Your estimate was way higher then several other companies, but I am still evaluating everyone.
Gabriel was very informative, spent considerable time with us looking at our project, and shared information important to the project we had not heard from others. Unfortunately, your bid was approximately $1000 higher than another company that had installed gutters for community neighbors and friends who were very satisfied with their work. While we have not made a final decision we are leaning toward the lower bid.

I had sent an email that wasn't responded to. And there was a mess left behind. It's too early to tell whether the filters will work or not. I've heard a lot of negativity from former customers lately regarding service issues and that the gutters can't handle all the rain we have here.

The gentleman who came to give the estimate was polite and understood why we decided against the work at this time, didn't push.
