Pool classes
The small groups makes for comfort and enjoyable.
Being in New England, it would be nice to have an indoor track. I have used two other Ys around the country and both have an indoor track.
There is not enough stretching space, it seems to be always in high demand, and I usually feel
I’m close to infringing upon space for nearby equipment. Especially if a trainer is there with a client.
The quadricep and hamstring equipment is in high demand and I often need to wait to use either. It would be nice to have two of those to use.

Friendly environment
So many options, friendly staff and members, super clean facilities
Please get a suit spunner and bring the hours of Stratford y in line with other Ys in the area, especially the Sunday hours.
The classes Carole Riches teaches and the other members.
Outstanding staff. Variety of exercise equipment. Maintenance of men’s locker room-albeit quite aged. Highly recommend this Y.

Stratford YMCA really needs renovation, there should be an adult section where it needs to function like a regular gym with more longer hours of operation so we can go after office hours. More adult classes please.
The joining fee was waived, which made it more affordable for me to join.
The Y feels like "home". Everyone greets you, whether they are sitting behind the front desk members walking down the hall. The relationships that are created grow beyond the walls of the building. I am grateful to have met so many wonderful friends along the way.

The instructors are very nice. They challenge you but don’t push farther than one can go! Most demonstrate modifications to various movements! Very attentive lifeguards also. Everyone from cleaning staff to class director, Jennifer, and director, Nicole are friendly, visible, and helpful. I have made so many friends at Woodruff.

The Soundview Y offers members a very positive atmosphere that truly looks, acts and feels inclusive and caring.
The facility offers something for everyone - evident by the age range from very young to very senior. Everyone seems happy to be there. I like the emphasis on fitness as a lifestyle.
I am new to weight training and my experience with my trainer has Julian has been excellent. He is very professional, a fine educator, and always motivating. With his guidance my workouts are focused, safe and challenging. I am seeing and feeling real results.
The front desk is consistently friendly and responsive.
The facility is very clean and in the gym I find that members are courteous about equipment hygiene and leaving machines ready for the next person.
I'd say the overall vibe is inspiring and motivating, not competitive, intimidating or self conscious.
If I have any criticism it is that repair on broken machines seem to take a long time. Case in point: there are only 3 rowers. One is fully functioning. One is not usable at all because a simple foot strap is torn in half. It's been 5 weeks since I first reported this. The third rower can be used, but the digital reader does not work properly - a problem for me because rowing is a core part of my daily program and I need to track time and speed during my workout.
In all, I am very pleased to be a Y member! My mother was a charter member of the Soundview Y and she used the pool 3 times a week for decades until she almost age 90!
Open the competition pool for members after working all day. The swim teams monopolize the pool from about 3 o’clock into the evening. Very hard for people who work all day to use the pool for lap swimming.
A coworker asked me about joining because she wanted to swim laps. I told her that unless she could come at the crack of dawn, her opportunities to use the pool after work were few & far between. She ended up not joining. The swim teams usually control the lap pool from late afternoon until around 7:30 -8:00 each day.
I was seriously injured in March. With a doctor's note they put my membership on a 3 month hold. Since it has come back the classes that I could actually attend while I have been in rehab have been consistently cancelled, the pool has been closed multiple times, and the best class for me is full immediately. I have tried to join it for 6 weeks. I have wasted my membership fees for three months and am upset.

Fix the portable steps into pool
The facility is beautiful. Loved the classes. I enrolled because of the pool, but later realized that I was rarely swimming. Found less expensive way to exercise.
Every thing about
THE CLASSES ARE NUMBEROUS AND WONDERFUL. THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE.
