The variety of classes and excellent teachers.
I took your Intro to Yoga class with Sondra on Sunday and I really enjoyed it. Sondra is lovely. I was so scared to try yoga because I am a total novice but it went well and I felt very comfortable. Plan to sign up for the 3 weeks of yoga today and come tonight even though my muscles are still sore from Sunday
Love the space, everyone who teaches and helps at the front desk, the prices are awesome.

Hello there,
Apologies for my delayed response in your request for feedback. I will make up for lateness with lengthiness...
I arrived to LA from NYC in November 2016 a broken person. I had just ended a seven-year relationship with a partner I had expected to spend the rest of my life with together. Shortly thereafter, I left the job that had brought me to LA in the first place. For the rest of that year I would struggle with substance abuse, and largely fail to make any lasting connections with other people. On my one-year anniversary in LA my sister, who was visiting from New York, dragged me to Namaste. She'd been practicing yoga for many years and constantly urged me to try it. I made an effort at a few other studios but it never really stuck. In that first week at Namaste I enjoyed classes from Nora, Jamie, Ani, Jasmine, and Sondra. After my ‘new student’ trial period had ended, committing to a monthly membership was an easy decision.
I’d like to give props to some of my favorite instructors: Sondra, Matthew, and Nora.
I can always expect to learn something new in all of Sondra’s classes. I’ve noticed she gives individual attention to each of her students. I am especially grateful for her weekly restorative class. At the end of my first class with Sondra I was surrounded by a pillow fort of props and bolsters. She had brought them to me throughout the class to help with my limited flexibility. Since then, Sondra has continued to monitor my progress and offered persistent help and encouragement.
Matthew has a great grasp on teaching the fundamentals and a lovely calming presence in the studio. I know I will have a consistent workout whenever I attend one of his classes as well as receive some personalized tips on how to improve my specific poses. I also really enjoyed volunteering with Matthew, an opportunity I hope Namaste will offer again.
Nora has a beautiful energy, peaceful aura, and great playlists. In addition to wonderful yoga instruction, she often shares knowledge on the mythology surrounding the practice along with her bright and lively sense of humor. One evening she told me I was a great presence in her class, and that she was grateful to have me as part of the Namaste community. My heart melted.
I did have one negative experience at Namaste with Meg. Her instructions are unclear, and some of her banter seemed oddly specific and gendered. For example, “Stick out your leg like a barbie doll!” One of the many great things about Namaste is our wide range of yogis of all ages, gender identities, and walks of life. An instructor who says “I tell people the secret to my beauty is reiki!” does not seem to fit in with the overall vibe at Namaste. Finally, I took one class with Meg on November 18th where I feel she singled me out and embarrassed me in front of class. I won’t go into detail here because this is a positive review (hence the ‘10’ rating), but I will say that if Meg’s class was my first at Namaste I surely wouldn’t be back.
The community at Namaste has enriched my life so much, and I feel so lucky to have the studio within walking distance of my apartment. I am entering 2018 happier and healthier than I have ever been in my life. While I have done a lot in the past year to improve my physical, mental, and emotional well-being, I owe a large part of that growth to Namaste. I’ll close out my review with a few more shoutouts: the front desk staff is always so friendly when I arrive. They make me feel very welcome, as if I were a good friend they hadn’t seen in a while (what up, Roxy). A visit to the studio from first taking my shoes off, to using some rosemary spray in the bathroom, and finally sipping tea after class is a very warm, familial, and homey experience. Some other instructors I’ve really enjoyed but haven’t had been able see as much as I would like are Ani, Jasmine, Steven, Chona, Jamie... I am so grateful to have such a caring and compelling group of instructors who seem genuinely interested in helping me improve... and some have even gone so far as to offer me their friendship. THANK YOU Namaste for everything you have done for me-- I plan to remain a part of your community for as long as I live in LA. I wish all of you happiness, love, and peace in the new year. I look forward to seeing you at the studio and around the neighborhood in 2018.
Very best,
