Definitely recommend this club. Always clean, great atmosphere and super-friendly and helpful staff. Best gun in Lawrence by far.
My friends would need the whirlpool and saunas functioning to consider joining the club.

I love the location, indoor track and facilities. The gym though has become so crowded— am, pm, weekends, it doesn’t matter. I don’t want to be surrounded by teens/young people and packed in. So that’s why I don’t come, and am wanting to end my membership.
The hot tub is ALWAYS broken either only one side works or not at all. Other than that everything is good.
The club is starting to look old and in need of refurbishment. Some of the leather/vinyl seats on the machines are torn, some cables are starting to "fray." Some weightlifters continually drop their weights. I'm betting that I am the single largest source of revenue(paid Pilates 3 times a week plus 3 sessions with a personal trainer each week) I have been a loyal customer for years. No one has ever asked me what the club needs.
The gym needs new stretching mats as the ones out now are crusty. The clock in the stretching area should be switched to standard time with seconds, not military time. The toilet seat in the first stall of the ladies restroom has been very crooked for at least 2 years. And the pool…there are so many barriers to entry. It shouldn’t be that hard to go to a pool that I pay for. Especially because whenever I go, there are literally 5 people there. There’s no way the apartments need 24 hour notice that 5 people are going to show up.

Very convenient location--can't be beat! Plenty of equipment--hard to recall having to wait for a machine. Knowledgeable, helpful personal trainers. Friendly staff. Spacious, clean locker rooms.

Extend hours to 10pm for the Midtown Crossing location (same as Aksarben). Some people work until 8pm and cannot get a full workout in given the 9pm weeknight closing time.
Seem like since Genesis purchase the club from Cliff the maintenance has take a back seat.
I feel like there is always something wrong with the pool, the other day I was swimming and the pools was so cloudy I could not even see the lines on the bottom of the pool. The shower are a hit and miss, some days there is warm water most days not. The ceiling in the men's locker room could use a fresh coat of paint. For weeks you had paint just hanging from the ceiling. It has recently been scrapped off. The one shower curtain could rally use a good cleaning. It is covered with rust on the bottom of the curtain. The door to the steam room has not been cleaned in weeks. There is a white streak of something running from the vent down the door. The other vent in the shower portion could use an new screw, it looks like it is ready to fall down. You might also look at the lockers, many of the lockers are missing locks. It is just not the premier club like it was when Cliff ran it.
As for the rest of the gym I really don't have too much to complain about. I do miss many of the past instructors, especially in the spinning room, but I'm sure that is due to Covid and you can't be blamed for that. . Many of the morning crew I used to work out with no longer show up. It seems since Covid no one talks, all the do is listen to their own music and keep their distance.
I imagine this will be the last time I get this survey from you because I tell it like it is.

In comparison to other Genesis Health Clubs, this location has drastically gone down Last name removed from when it was run by OneLife. I personally go to 3 other locations, and the Amenities (towels, drinking fountains, equipment) are always dirty and/or broken.
It also has a massive number of cardio machines that take up space and are rarely used. Specifically speaking about the two front/East rows facing the TVs and group exercise room. Expanding the Free weights area (always crowded!) and moving some of that equipment to that location would maximize space.
Better servicing of equipment. The Precor adaptive motion trainers are in need of maintenance.

There are too many pieces of equipment that are out-of-service and it makes developing a regular routine hard. I have joined another gym for regular workouts and only maintain my current membership due to the personal training sessions I use with my valued trainer, Jeremy Wallen. If it wasn't for the great work he's done with me over the years, I likely would have cancelled my membership a while ago.
The cardio machines always seem to be broken. The place is a bit dirty.
2 sinks in womens locker room are out of order and have been for a while! Only 1 hairdryer works also. Constantly running out of towels…never sure if I will get a towel for my shower! If this is an amenity please buy some. 1 shower constantly running, won’t shut off. Can hardly hear in cardio area due to basketball courts…Sarah successfully got this one group to stop playing music which really helps! Sarah is doing a great job! I just wouldn’t recommend because it is embarrassing to bring someone to pool with green water and no towels and limited sinks in womens locker room
The staff are friendly and there's a good, positive attitude around the gym.
Old, dirty. Unkempt. But it all we have on the south side.
The gym needs to be renovated, the fans in the main area are gross and the pipes and ceiling are covered in dust. Also there's a TV that's been broken for awhile and some of the clocks are way off. Spray bottles are never refilled either.
