The equipment is getting rundown and I don't see much to improve this. I'm having to use the floor mats because all of the barbell pads have been damaged and not replaced. The towel shortage didn't help. Some of the staff at the front is not engaged and on their phones when coming and going. And recently, there has been an influx of high schoolers at peak hours that are taking up equipment when not really working out. I was recently charged an extra yearly fee, which I was told for "gym maintenance" but I'm not seeing that money allocated to any maintenance.
I provided a lower score because it seems that none of the membership fee revenue is being used to invest in the gym or building. Whenever I come in, there's a new leak, another machine down, etc. When you're investing close to $50/mo in a membership, you expect the facility to be kept up at a minimum.
The men's locker room shower area is a mess. Multiple stalls not functioning. Steam room works a while, down a while. Hot tub out frequently. I think it needs a major overhaul.
I love going to this gym its always clean. Staff here are very nice and friendly. Tyler who is my personal trainer is amazing, he always keep me motivated. He cares about his clients a lot & he always makes my personal training sessions more fun even the group glasses. He is the best trainer at Genesis!
The classes are great. Marianne Hoffman, Vanessa C are incredible teachers and motivators. I also love Gentle Yoga with Genevive.
Not a disappointment, just less updated than the other Genesis location that I go to.
Kids Club, variety of machines and classes, weekday 24-hours, friendly staff, good quantity of machines.
The amenities and the staff
It has everything you need! The only thing I would change is just keeping up on routine maintenance with the machines because seem like that are about to break
repair the pads on the equipment ,some are years since they have been repaired
The lighting isn’t great and the kids club area leaves a lot to be desired.
Fix the Hot tub
Redecorate, add parking
Maintain and/or fix the amenities (parking lot, outdoor tennis courts, restrooms, locker rooms, spinning bikes, etc) to the level they were kept prior to Genesis taking over the club
The sauna in the mens room is not operating at a temperature for morning participants. This was one of the benefits that excited me about the Power and Light location, This benefit has not been realized and brought to the attention of staff members, yet, the situation continues to exist. As a result my satisfaction has been affected that I can not in good conscience recommend a location that does not stand behind the promoted benefits.
Please fix the Wifi, I had to make a very important call while working out the other day and could not because the Wifi is never working. Thanks
Seen the wet sauna broken since I enrolled for a membership. Therapy pool was cold. Both are reasons I enrolled and utilize.
If I am being honest the quality of the facility as a whole has turned slowly south over the course of the last couple of years. Things that have recently frustrated me have been the closing of the Centera location without any price adjustment, Changes to hours without any notice. my out-of-pocket cost changed due to some employee changes on my part, but I was not informed that the club had started charging me the difference. As a result, I requested to change my membership to only the South location now that the Centerra location is closed, but no option exists. There is no reason to bundle all the clubs into various packages if patron-only wishes to use one facility. Often times I can climb on a piece of equipment and it does not work correctly, or the resistance is completely out of range from what it should be. Entertainment (TV) systems often time is frozen and many channels can not be viewed. The cleanliness of the locker rooms has declined, and towels lying on the floors. These are just a few of my observations since the acquisition from Miramount.
Not worth what is being charged. We haven't gone in almost a month and only haven't canceled because of the ridiculous cancellation policy.
For the money paid all the machines are not nice and not organized well. There has been a machine broken for over three months and then another broke and that one has not been fixed for a month. If I’m spending this much money I would expect the bare minimum of the workout machines to be nice and in working order.
It’s a great club
Fix and update your gym, the place is a dump
Women's locker room carpet needs replaced or better yet tiled due to the water leaks that happen several times a year and soak into the carpet.
We also need need new hand weights in the group fitness classes.
Being without basic towel service for weeks on end, the seemingly endless closures of the pool for classes, the poor Maintenance of the hot soaking pool, and unreliability of the hot tub- and the nightmare parking. They all add up to just a generally unpleasant experience. The only positive is Lou and Pilates - otherwise I would basically walk away for the poor experiences. (To be clear Lou is an amazing trainer and health partner)
I appreciate the cleanliness. The constant clean towels as well as the bathrooms stocked with product for use. (Shampoo, soap, mouthwash, blow dryers, spa)
BT is doing an excellent job and the staff is always friendly as well!
The price of the gym is pretty good, but almost all of the equipment looks like it was purchased from a used gym supply store. There are miscellaneous little things like rips in workout mats, heartrate monitor broken on one stairmaster, another stairmaster has a weird grinding you can feel from your feet while using it.
If it rains, sometimes there are buckets catching drips right next to some of the machines.
There are many universal machines that almost never get used by anyone, and others, like the one for leg extensions that there is only one of and always seems to be in use.
clean, staff is friendly and has the equipment I need.
If the club had noticeable improvements over time, I would be more satisfied, however being locked into a three-year contract with the same dirty bathroom, failing spa, failing steam room, sauna light which doesn't work, etc. the club is clearly not keeping maintenance up and it's a bit frustrating.
Furthermore, things such as the massage chairs and eucalyptus spray for the steam room have disappeared. The cleaning spray bottles have even been dropping in frequency meaning I need to do a scavenger hunt to clean any of the equipment. Paying the same amount of money each month to see the experience weaken makes me regret signing up.
Between Planet fitness and anytime fitness being more friendly to my budget, and DSM Barbell Club being a better strength experience, there are many options around the DSM area that I will explore after my contract expires.
It’s very clean and friendly! Very large room to do all the exercises you want! Love the pool and hot tub!
The showers in the Men's Locker room could use some attention. I believe only 3 out of the 12 function.
