The app is brilliant! Really helps to see schedules etc
Like that the pool is pretty much useable most of the day.
I have only used the pool for swimming and aqua at present.
Always clean, friendly people, all facilities are well maintained.
Very friendly atmosphere, staff is very helpful.
Members are very supportive
Josie is a beginner. The coaches do a great job of giving direction and positive feedback and /or adjustment.
My child has been taking swim lessons for almost 2 years at the YMCA. She has done most of the levels multiple times, and with different instructors at either the Branford location or the Milford location. The Milford instructors need more guidance and proper training to provide consistency for students. The expectations varied per instructor on the same levels specifically for levels 4 and 5. The last instructor at the Milford location never got in the water to show students how to properly stroke nor did she get into the pool to help struggling students. She also yelled and belittled students including my daughter during her lessons, it made my daughter dread going to her swimming lessons and when I asked to switch the class, nothing was available since it was half way through the session. At the branford location there is one amazing instructor, and I wish we could request him as my daughter’s instructor every time. He thoughtfully helps students and TEACHES students how to do the skill, unlike the instructor at the Milford location. I also do not agree with the sliding scale model, I will never be able to afford for my entire family to all be members and enjoy the YMCA together, whereas other families get to go to the YMCA for a lesser payment plan.
Everyone is helpful and friendly. The facility is conveniently located.
It’s friendly and geared toward a team building environment. Swimmers can choose meets and have choices on what swims and challenges they want to participate in.
Pool, Lockers/Facility so very well maintained and clean! Housekeeping/Maintenance is cordial and friendly and works constantly to keep the facility safe and clean.
Front Desk - I don't know how you do it but each and everyone behind the front desk is friendly, professional and so helpful and knowledgeable about schedules and always is able to answer my questions about sign ups and procedures.
Swim Instructors and Lifeguards - Friendly, Professional, great teachers - I am constantly in awe of how wonderful each instructor connects with students when teaching at all levels of abilities and at all levels of attention spans. They make classes a great experience and bring each of us to our best!
Friendly staff, nice, clean facility
My child has truly enjoyed swimming with Sam and Daniella. She's loved the group of girls she swims with and has become friends with. The positive social environment is what has kept her motivated (despite feeling practices can be challenging physically :). The August/summer program was very helpful in introducing her to swim team type participation.
Cleanliness, friendliness, trustworthiness, variety of activities both paid and free, warmth and spaciousness of the pool.
When you walk into the YMCA, you don’t feel like the other gyms that have been updated. Although they painted it still needs to be updated properly.
I have no complaints
Just be more organized. Instructors don’t always seem to know the start times/stages they’re training!
The teacher Kacie is amazing
Clean facility welcoming employees
Caring coaches.
Focus on team and atitude.
More coaching staff for the gymnastics team, a larger gymnastics gymnasium. More experienced coaches for the team, most of the coaches are teenagers
The instructors, and coach Jane are great with the children. My child has been progressing and learning new skills. I would recommend this to family and friends.
wish teachers would share more with parents about progress. given we can’t sit and watch it’s hard to gauge progress.
Hardwork and dedication towords swimmers
Casey is an amazing teacher! My daughter actively wants to impress her. I love that she gives us options on what to do/skip. I love that even though I’ve done the class a few times, we still learn things (rather than just repetition, which I do know is importantly).
The female instructor for Thurs 5:55 level 3 is amazing!!! She’s a keeper and other coaches could stand to learn from her affective behavior and kid- friendly interactions!
I’ve had a wonderful experience with the Fairfield YMCA Swim Team. The coaches are supportive, knowledgeable, and consistently motivate the kids to improve while still keeping practices fun. The team environment is positive and encouraging, and the program is very well organized. I’ve loved seeing how much confidence my child has gained in her swimming skills. Overall, it’s an excellent place to train, make friends, and grow as a swimmer.
Allow for sick make ups in swim and more detailed swim instruction in group classes.
More instruction, less of the same game, less wasting time (I.e waiting for kids to line up perfectly), more drills and support/ coaching
Great swim instructors.
The classes are convenient and small enough that the kids get one-on-one attention, the. Get to learn from their peers as well. Great class!
Annoying as a caregiver to spectate.
People crowd the glass door and sit on the stairs in the way of the railings despite signs. Some of the chairs in the hallways are visibly dirty and dilapitated. The vending machine is an attractive nuisance for younger children.
The online schedules and offerings are a challenge to navigate so we come in person to make plans.
In the pool, the instructors and instruction seems excellent! I appreciate the teachers and that there are lifeguards on deck.

The water park at the YMCA is an exceptional addition to the facility. However, there is a suggestion for improvement: the provision of more individual changing rooms would enhance the overall experience for patrons.
