The community feeling and the wonderful classes. Especially Rayshawn’s classes.
They have everything as well as being available for those who can’t pay much.
Great community. Friendly staff. Good pool.
The community, Jackie's classes, the upkeep of the machines and the variety of classes.
The friendly atmosphere, with no pressure to preform.
At 78 years old, I appreciate, the relaxed feeling.
Good equipment, well maintained.
I love the "Y" and have been a member there since 1980 . I like it because of it's eclectic membership including people from all walks of life in race, religion, and anything else you can think of. Also, all the staff are very friendly , accommodating , and helpful. Simply put, the Montclair "Y" is great.
The only thing I would address is the period of time it takes to get the men's and women's steam
room into operation. The reason were told is "the part is on order" ,.... so I think it would be a good idea to order more than 1 of the same part if in fact that is the problematic part that on occasion needs replacement.
I short,...... I highly recommend the Montclair "YMCA".
Great amenities & staff for a very good value. Locker rooms are kept clean. Location is super convenient.
I like seeing people I know. I enjoy the non-competitive vibe.
The facilities are excellent. Very friendly environment and helpful staff.
It has a great community vibe! It’s welcoming, practical, inclusive! Also shout out to trainer Joven Louis-Jean - he’s amazing!
hours and equipment
It's affordable, lots of options, good facilities, welcoming and comfortable.
Great class options
Excellent weight room
Great place! Excellent facilities and staff. Community focused. What's not to like?!
Very well run program. My son learned a lot and we look forward to taking the next stage in the program.
Ms. Tracey is an absolute godsend! This was our son's first 'drop-off' experience, and we couldn't be happier with the program. It's such a wonderful introduction to the routine of school, and independence.
Our daughter turned one recently, and we can't wait for her to join Time for Two's next year! We hope Ms. Tracey will continue to run the program, and encourage other families to take advantage of this incredible oppertunity! - The Last name removed Family
Swimming pools, friendly atmosphere, weight classes & yoga classes
Staff is frendly
The Montclair Y is clean, well organized, workout equipment is in excellent shape, the staff is always visible and the pool is great. We’re very lucky to have this in our town. Love it!!
Although the Y has changed since I started attending primarily classes, it still is a comfortable place to be. I don’t know many of the people there anymore but when I am there, I feel like I can call upon them to assist me or direct me. As a senior citizen now, I primarily use the cardio machines and circuit room. When I was younger, I LOVED the classes. I wish there were more classes for seniors. I will have to navigate through the class listings.
My daughter enjoyed it and she has evolved so much from being around other kids in a class setting. Miss Rita facilitated the class and she had great energy and was great with the kids.
The full day of activities including swimming!
Instructors were very attentive and thorough with the kids, and we really appreciated the high instructor to student ratio !
Lots of opportunity for working out.
I love the senior level 2 and 3 balance/ endurance classes w Jackie ...love the vibe. energy and music . Pam's Taste of Tai Chi offers a rewarding and very different kind of discipline. Even though I am in and out due to my current schedule I like the vibes and sense of community. Also, there is a fair amount of equipment available. When I have more free time I intend to try more classes as many seem wonderful and I must say that every class I have tried, I like.
My older son participates in the diverse abilities lessons on Wednesday night. After many failed attempts over the years, it is the first class that the instructors are able to meet him exactly where he needs them to, getting him into the pool and actually showing weekly improvement toward swim goals each week. It has been by far the best experience with swim lessons we have ever had for our neurodivergent child.

Friendly environment.
