Best bicycle mechanics! And they are nice, too!
Trek bike rental program was better than expected. My friend and I from the SF Bay Area, rented bikes to complete Scenic Shores Bike Tour in Wisconsin. We successfully completed the 2-day event with our rental bikes.
Doug and his colleague did their best to set myself and friend up with Trek Domane bikes per our bike measurements to be comfortable for a two day bike event in Wisconsin. Installed my pedals, my saddle, and changed out the stem to enable a more comfortable ride. My Trek Domane bike was quite comfortable for the 150 mile endurance bike ride. I usually ride a Specialized Roubaix, so I loved having disc brakes and the comforts of a Trek bike.
During the ride, the rental bike's back wheel was loose, despite my knowledge which could have been a serious problem on the 150 mile route. Luckily, the SS150 event's mechanic noticed the loose back wheel and corrected it to prevent a possible bike incident for the remaining 75 miles. Also, the rental bike's gears were sticking throughout the 2-day event. The SS150 event's mechanic advised the bike's gears, chain, and derailleur be thoroughly cleaned and lubricated to help improve the bike's shifting for future use. Bike bag lacked a multi-tool despite being told there was one in the bike bag; it had two tubes and 3 CO2 cartridges versus 2. Luckily, I did not need any of the bike tool items. Overall, I would highly recommend Trek Bikes - Highland Park. My brother-in-law uses the shop too and is quite pleased with their customer service and bike services. Thanks again for being an integral part of my first, multi-day cycling event in Wisconsin benefitting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to end blood cancers.
