Helen’s is the ONLY place to buy a bike n Southern California and Wilbur is a genius.
I love the excellent service I get in the repair department. They are all excellent, but a special shout-out to Gilberto, who has helped me with my cycle maintenance since I bought my first bike at Helen's over ten years ago (probably longer).
I also like how friendly the staff is, and I appreciate their patience in explaining things to me.
"Overall, I really appreciate the care that went into this. Even though my bike ended up being ready a day after my scheduled appointment, the drop-off process itself was easy and well organized — and living in Santa Clarita, keeping a predictable schedule for the drive over matters a lot to me, so that part went smoothly.
When I picked up the bike, everything had been properly fitted and the specs were reset back to my original setup. I hopped on and had zero trouble adjusting — it rode great right away. The most noticeable improvement was just how smooth the pedaling felt compared to before.
The only small gap: I was told that if I ever notice the gears skipping on uphill climbs, it would mean something needs to be replaced — but since I'm not too familiar with bike components, I didn't quite catch which part they meant. A quick follow-up note or reminder on that would've been helpful, but otherwise I left very satisfied with the service."
