The shop is very welcoming and they take pride in their work. They’re honest and fair. I would recommend them to anybody!
The first disappointment came with the shipping. The expected ship date listed was Tuesday the 28th, and after a full week of no updates I reached out Monday the 2nd and was told it would ship Tuesday the 3rd. This led me to believe it had just been forgotten about until I emailed. Upon opening the box, it seemed to be haphazardly packed. It wasn’t damaged during shipping, so it did its job, but it certainly looked like it was done with little care, and the rest of my experience has led me to believe that’s your standard.
The next disappointment came upon inspecting the bike. First off it was wiped down, but not what I would consider “cleaned.” I was expecting a certain level of wear due to it being a demo, but I did not expect to find a bike that looks to have been rode hard and put away wet. The reason I didn’t expect this is probably because the pictures on the website listing were clearly not of this bike. The pictures were only the start of the misrepresentation, because it was listed as a demo, but this was quite clearly a rental bike. I understand you sell both during the “Demo Bike Sale,” but the listing stated it was a demo. I see now that all bikes on this sale are listed as demos, and, frankly, listing a rental bike as a demo is dishonest. I could believe either of these situations were an honest mistake, but the combination of the misleading listing details AND the pictures of an entirely different bike say malice, not mistake. “Lightly ridden” is a stretch, if not an outright lie. This bike has been laid down hard several times. If I had seen the level of damage to this bike I would have passed, but again, the pictures were of a different bike. The decals on the fork are heavily damaged and peeling off, the etching on the pedal cranks are almost entirely worn off, the seat has a decent sized scuff in it, there are deep, heavy scratches on the frame and fork, including damage to the stanchions. This level of damage and wear doesn’t happen in a few demo rides.
My third disappointment was not being able to ride my bike the day I finally received it because whoever packed it forgot to put the pedals in the box! I skipped my morning run anticipating taking my new bike for a ride instead and I’m not thrilled about that. So, I head to my local Trek store before work and buy $65 dollar pedals. That ate into the $200 I saved buying a demo model significantly. I work second shift, so after work I was unable to go for an actual ride because it was dark, but I decided to assemble the bike and give it a short test ride around my yard and up and down the driveway.
This led to my next disappointment. The bike shifted horribly, skipping gears, and at one point missed the gear entirely. The chain also skipped several times just riding on my flat gravel driveway. The next morning, I made my second trip to the bike store in two days of owning my new bike. They had to replace the shift cable, adjust the derailleur, unbend the hanger, add air to the tires, tighten several fasteners, and questioned why a retail store would sell a bike that hadn’t been cleaned. This cost me another 35 bucks and wasted half my morning. Between the hundred bucks I’ve put into fixing and replacing missing things and the other hundred bucks for shipping I’m $101.88 less than having just purchased the same model brand new at my local store. Add to that the hassle of making multiple trips to the bike store and wasting my time I feel like I’m worse off than where I would have been just purchasing brand new and I’d have been riding for the last two weeks.
Your website states bikes will be "washed, inspected, tuned, and ready to roll" and to “Enjoy Cahaba Ready To Ride delivery on this bike. Our professional mechanics build, tune, setup, and ship your bike to ensure a safe delivery and easy setup.” This bike is not clean, not tuned or set up, was missing parts and overall, in awful condition compared to the photos in the listing (that weren’t even of this bike). If I wanted a used bike in need of repairs and tuning, I would have bought one used locally and spent way less money. There are Gen 4 Roscoe 7s for sale in the area for $7-800 in better condition than this one. I bought from you thinking I was getting a like-new, low-mileage bike that would be professionally inspected and tuned before I got it. I feel entirely ripped off here and I’m not even sure what can be done to fix it. I don’t want this bike because I don’t trust any work you have done on it, but I am certainly not going to spend a bunch of money and, even more importantly, time shipping this thing back to you. What do you think will make this situation right?

Great products and the customer service is always great.
Always very helpful and quick turnaround

I did an online order, which was very easy. Cahaba Cycles' communication was great from the time they received my order until the time I picked it up. I'm bad at remembering names, but I think I dealt with Kenny and Andrew in the store at Pelham and they were both very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I couldn't be happier with my new bike and helmet.
