Would like the Cass Street location to be open 24 hours all week long (even the weekends)
Clean, good staff. Has everything I need for a good workout.
The gym is consistently going downhill. I used the pool the other day only to find out they had no towels in the pool bin. To make things worse when I walked dripping wet back to the locker room to grab a towel it was shutdown and had towels at the front desk. I had to walk across the front entrance of the gym in my swim stuff soaking wet for a towel. I have several complaints this was the icing on the cake. I will be cancelling my membership and not recommending to others.
All the different types of machines
Love this place
The pools and hot tubs!
Its clean, staff is very helpful and have all the equipment for a good workout.
It has just about everything
The mixxedfit class on Thursdays, even though I wish it could be in the gym due to more people starting to come and it can be better health and safety wise.
Facilities repair and cleaning processes seem to have been deteriorating over the past couple years, specifically in common areas and locker rooms. Sinks and showers in locker rooms are constantly out of order. Sauna seats/floors are in poor repair. Carpet very worn in many spots, seating in common areas is worn. Gym equipment is fine and has been kept up and cleaned well though.
Way cleaner now than in the past and the mask mandate makes me feel more comfortable
It’s handy to where I live.
The machines are usually in good working order.
Friendly.
Clean and have the equipment I like
Clean, wide variety of machines and options. Equipment in good shape.
Bathrooms could use paper towels. The air dryers are deafening! They hurt!
I don’t see a mask rule being used. When did that go away. Computers have been down recently and not everyone at reception desk can deal with problem. I need a slip to give my Pilates instructor and I cannot wait for someone else to appear to solve the problem. The instructors I work with are great, but I don’t see the same commitment to customer service in other staff. What is your focus - seeking new members or serving loyal members who have been coming to the facility for years. I understand cost savings but when do you let members know of changes in service. I understand you are closing the towel service. When and how will you let members know? Your communication with members is poor.
It is a place where I can exercise and be comfortable. The staff and trainers as well as other clients are so kind to me and treat me like a friend! I have excellent trainers who teach me to exercise safely.
the staff is very friendly
Everyone that works there is very kind, facility is always clean
Bathrooms are always dirty and very old and run down. No paper towels in mens bathroom or locker area. Bathroom toilets and floors are always gross. Need to be cleaned much more often. Exhaust vent fan in men's room not functioning so bad smells and humidity linger all day/night. Not a pleasant experience and not at all inviting.
The pool,lockers and exercise equipments.
I would like to have towels available in the lockers, like it used to be in the past.
the pool has been very chilly lately, they used to have a whiteboard with the pool temp, no longer there. probably cause the pool's been colder. the whirlpool gets very low where you have to sit on the floor to get your shoulders, shouldn't have to tell them that it needs water. that should be monitored daily.
Keep the machines cleaner. Someone hits the high spots, but there's crud in other areas the customers come in contact with.
Very clean, super friendly staff and not crowded.
I have had a peer fit account (my company will pay for my gym membership) for almost 5 months now. I’ve been sending emails, making phone calls, going into the gym, talking to staff and managers all to get them to stop charging my account and allow peer fit to pay for my membership.
I was told that it was taken care of and I would not be charged anymore. I was charged again.
I have texted the manager to get it fixed and he said it would be taken care of yesterday. The money still isn’t back in my account. I wouldn’t be so upset if I haven’t been trying to get this taken care of for months. I’ve been patient and I’m done being patient
It makes me not want to go to genesis at all anymore. So give me my money back and allow peer fit to pay for my account or cancel my membership and my Peerfit membership all together. It can’t be that difficult, they’re just not making it a priority
I would struggle to recommend joining the club right now when I have heard that classes with lower attendance could be cancelled. So a person could join and after a month or so a class they enjoy will no longer be available.
I regularly attend the Sunday morning spin and body pump. Both classes have routinely had lower numbers but a dedicated group of people who attend almost every week. The instructors, Amanda and Dawn are very good but just happen to teach on a day when there is normally fewer people in the gym overall. We are also in spring and summer when, historically, fewer people go to the gym. Cancelling classes now seems illogical when these classes have normally had fewer numbers and we are in the season of fewer people being in the gym. Merle Hay does not have as many classes as some of the other clubs, why would you take away what is already lacking? I would be disappointed and upset if these Sunday classes were cancelled.
Another reason I hesitate to recommend the club is that we have been without a fully functioning sound system in the fitness room for 3 weeks. Also, for many, many months the guests and instructors have had to put up with a mic that stops working during class and is often not repaired for several days.
The new spin bikes have been a great addition but there are already 6 that are not working and have been sitting to the side for weeks, untouched, unrepaired.
Paying a lot for my membership and think the locker room (showers, steam room, etc) could use a little more cleaning and maintenance. Also was having issues with several different treadmills today -- that has never been an issue before so not sure if they are due for maintenance or what! Overall I really like Genesis, but the price is definitely a reason I don't encourage people to get sucked into a contract.
Convenient
Well equipped
Staff is helpful and friendly
Unless someone is into tennis, probably not worth it. the rates are pretty high and the weight equipment is pretty beat up. No renovations have been made since it changed from Aspen.
The 132nd St location should charge a premium membership price and bring back all the amenities. I'd pay $100/mo to bring back the original Prairie Life Center.
