I'm used to a smaller studio and miss that intimacy. I enjoy smaller classes where the teachers knows my name, or at least attempt to remember it, and even know where I'm at in my practice. I go to class to improve my poses, and I like adjustments that help me do just that. I didn't find that here, and that's OK. It's a beautiful studio, just not for me at this time.
I did enjoy all of Alli Shafer's classes, as she teaches from the heart and with alignments cues—two of my favourite things—and I may pop in for her classes now and then.
Here's a couple of things that surprised me as a student brand new to your studio: 1. I attended my first class with Bernie on a Wednesday night, I believe, and found out at the start of class that we were doing something called the 'Dragon Dance,' which was a pretty awesome, intense workout, but not so much fun when I have a hamstring injury. It would have been great to have this on your website, or your promo material, or even mentioned that night as we entered, so I could have opted out due to my injury (continual lunges and injured hamstrings don't go well together!). 2. I decided to try a Kundalini class with Gloria, and it was rather like going to a rave!... And there's nothing wrong with that, except two injuries (ankle and hamstrings) make it rather hard to dance, and I guess, this was not at all my perception of Kundalini Yoga (after watching Kia Miller on YogaGlo!). So again, if I had known this, I would have opted out due to my injuries.
I don't really think you can 'make things right', as it mentions in the question, as this is my perspective at this time which taught me that when I have injuries it's best to ask questions about the classes I intend to try, and to not assume/expect anything until I've tried it. And, a smaller studio where I get to know people, is what I want right now, especially when I'm new to Vancouver and don't know many people. So I was just looking for something different, and I am happy that I practiced at your studio(s). Again, you have a lovely studio, and everyone seems polite and friendly, it's just not for me at this time.
air circulation.
I find it gets too hot in the studios but mostly the one on 4th.
Very convenient location for those who live in kits and classes are still challenging even after 3 months
More diversity as per Y Yoga. Better pricing.
Staff are helpful and kind and teachers are great.
Friendly réception, good instructors, convenience
The spirit, the beauty, the committment
The vibe between teachers and students is beautiful. Everyone is friendly, treated equal and given attention. I love the group 'Om' as well. And the Sea studio - breathtaking!
Little more fresh air or a little less heat.
The space gets very crowded during some classes.
Consider offering classes in the afternoons?
Variety (types, teachers), convenience (locations, times), all equipment provided, no excuse not to go! Like variety of instructors and some are exceptional, each brings their own flavour to the practice. I especially like the well thought out messages/concepts for intention and reflection--this is what sets yoga apart from other practices and exercise.
The studio is very small and sometimes too many people are crouched into the room.
water supply and washroom access from outside the yoga room
Nice studio
Well organized. Good instructors, clean. Beautiful environment
Replace carpeting with wood flooring. Provide more detailed instructions on website to enable customers to find the studio more easily. Otherwise it's a beautiful space and my favourite of your studios that I've tried so far.
Most of the time there is a reasonable amount of space between the mats in this studio. Today the mats on the lower section of the floor were mostly spaced two to four inches apart. I have a ruler on my phone and I went and measured the smallest gap between the long side of one mat and the long side of the mat next to it. It was less than two inches. I consider anything less than six inches unreasonable. I would prefer 8 inches separation or more, but a minimum of six feels essential. I would rather be turned away from a class because it is full than be in a class where I need to check where my neighbours are every second or third move, and/or be constantly adjusting my place on the mat in order not to be hitting or touching my neighbours.
Limited members in a class, too crowdly!
Like the store front area and the ledge to sit on🙂. great teachers. Friendly staff
Very friendly and helpful staff. I like that they recognize me . The teachers are always good. Nice that it is clean too. Good new mats🙂
lots of variety and times, instructors are great
The class was too busy and not as relaxing as I hoped.
Friendly staff and beautiful location
Relaxed, friendly and welcoming staff and instructors. Plus a beautiful studio!
Everything except for high price :-(
The staff and the classes are amazing
They are so regular and the classes and instructors are great.
The entrance lounge and changing room are minuscule.
It would be nice to have some nice smell in the studio.
Also clean soft towels to put on top of the mats would be appreciated.
