Highland Home Inspection did a great job evaluating the condo during the inspection process.
JD was informative with every aspect of the home inspection. He took the time to explain everything to the first time homebuyers. Great job.

Dan Floyd did a fantastic job for my first time home buyer! He clearly and patiently explained to my client what he was doing and how each of the systems of the house worked and how to maintain them.
I had used Highland a couple of times in the past and it seems every time they alarm my clients unnecessarily -- and the deal falls apart - just like this one just fell apart. I felt that Dan could have done a better job explaining the issues. The biggest frustration I had was with the deck. It did not have flashing (which was not required when it was built), and instead of telling them that it wasn't required 25 years ago and to keep an eye on it, he told them that it was likely water was getting behind the ledger board and could be getting in the house. He mentioned that the bolts "could possibly" have rusted from the water getting behind the ledger board. Interestingly, when I spoke to 3 other agents who use Highland they told me they only use J.D., that they felt Dan was too much of an alarmist. While I want my clients to have a thorough and complete evaluation and to understand their prospective home, scaring them doesn't work for me. That's why I use LodeStar and will continue to do so.
Thoroughness , Inspector listened to concerns, On-time, Stayed over 3 hours… (possibly because buyers were asking so many questions. Appreciate his willingness to do on such short notice/before big snow storm.. highly recommend

Where can I start. I have been working with HHIs since I started selling real estate over 25 years ago. They are always my first choice when working with a buyer, and I am also glad to see them on the other side when I'm working with the Seller. I know they will be thorough and accurate.
Highland Home Inspections is easy to schedule, including radon testing.
Their reports are well ordered and very easy to understand.

Both contracts fell apart because the inspections were so thorough. I'm not complaining, I'm complimenting. Dan found a latent defect the seller had tried to hide. The buyer and I are thankful and very pleased with his inspection.

The inspectors are very knowledgeable, always on time, and the reports are awesome. I love the new action to do list, which highlights the major repairs that are needed. Reports are very thorough and easy to read and understand. All of the inspectors are very good with the clients. I have been a realtor for 11 years and I have never used anyone but Highland Home Inspections. Highly recommend!

Home Inspector shook my hand when he met me and assumed I was the Listing Agent. He then proceeded to give me vague one-word answers for 15 minutes on any questions about the inspection. Next time, he should ask that question when he is introduced to the buyers agent, instead of assuming.

JD is simply the man. It's not only his extensive knowledge of the homes, it's the way he is able to explain things to the buyers that makes him exceptional. He is extremely thorough but he is able to keep things in perspective for the potential buyer and provide real life solutions to deficiencies discovered during the inspection. He provides everyone with a calming presence and you can sense that his knowledge of these homes is deep. He is a vital part of my vendor referral network and I greatly appreciate his service.
