We went to the pool, and it was vastly different than our experience at the Y much closer to our house (SE Raleigh). The lifeguards were super joyful and welcoming. When our child didn’t pass the yellow band test, the lifeguards kindly came near and coached him through what to work on. The guards played games and had a cannonball competition during break — it was exactly the fun, joy-filled experience we’d hope to see at all Ys. Additionally, our friend lost their black band while going down the slide, and they gave him a new one to replace it. At SE Raleigh, they were trying to charge $3 cash only to replace his band.
The equipment and facilities you can get with any club, but the community - members and instructors, staff is one of a kind. Also appreciate ability to attend any Y. Helps when traveling.
Friendly staff & members
The employees are super welcoming. I like that the head lifeguard introduces themselves and that we can actually understand them when they're speaking with the microphone.
I like that the teachers are all experienced and that they do not come and go like other gyms. I like the classes as a whole, especially the yoga and pilates. I like that the folks that work and volunteer there are very friendly.
classes and instructors that really help!
I like the classes which are created for seniors. They are both beneficial to my health as well as physically challenging.
Also the entire YMCA staff are congenial and caring.
It is so family friendly! I love that they give kids the freedom to use the gym and facilities without over policing. Giving kids freedom gives parents freedom.
The classes are great. The instructors are wonderful. The facility is very well maintained.
The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They’ve made me feel comfortable even though I’m overweight, and overtired with a baby. I really appreciate the kidzone staff and the wonderful women at the front desk.
It has a variety of services. We don’t use the pool, but it’s great for kids. I like the basketball courts and the weight equipment.
I do not like the fact that the guest passes are so expensive for when you want to bring a friend
The people who work there are very friendly, the members are nice and non-judgmental, the facility is clean.
Everything is good there
The quality of programs and the staff who lead those programs and classes.
The staff, understanding , concerned, caring
Great variety of classes
Class diversity - Ease of access near my home - Reciprocal access to YMCA locations when we travel - Outdoor pool - Staff very friendly & helpful
Love the pickleball open play run by Dan. Really enjoy the pools and sauna. Super nice staff. Love the thrive classes. Front desk staff super helpful and nice. I really enjoy my time at the Y. Looking forward to fireworks too. Loved the prayer breakfast.
Front desk staff is always so friendly and welcoming!!! Make my day!
Love having the outdoor pool open year round.
Lifeguards outside are good about making sure the lap lanes are open to lap swimmers and keep people playing in their areas. I feel very safe that I will not get hit or bumped into by a "stray swimmer". I had major knee surgery so this has been a relief for me.
Outside pool is open year round.
The pool is one of the best within the triangle.
Great community and staff! The facility is stretched beyond capacity, though. Need to expand or stop selling new memberships.
I have been a YMCA member for over 30 years….now at AE Finley for the last 7. A friendly, welcoming place to keep moving and cultivate a healthy lifestyle has been paramount - and the Y delivers all year round. What could be better than belonging to a community with common interests, goals and so many available programs! Keep up the good work! :)
The pool is great.
As a family we use access a lot. Seeing if my in laws can do it as well but it is cost prohibitive for them.
I would highly recommend AE Finley Ymca Saturday morning. The parking lot is a disaster. The staff that I met was very friendly and helpful. My granddaughter was having her first swimming lesson. The instructor seemed to do a very good job.
The equipment
The pool
as a southeast y member with a pool, it’s nice to be able to meet with friends in other parts of raleigh and still enjoy a y pool. love the number of lifeguards and so great to have the slide there (my kid’s first time going down!) - our only note was that the women’s bathroom smelled overwhelmingly like urine so there’s a responsibility on members to help the kids do the right thing, but perhaps an increased mopping frequency would help during peak usage. that smell times a hot bathroom was quite unpleasant. but on the whole, the y is one of the best things about living in the triangle.
Chair yoga classes, nice equipment and friendly staff.

The pool staff where amazing. Truly felt like a neighborhood pool. We recently went to the SE YMCA and had an awful experience so was nice to come here and feel welcomed.
