my daughter loved the teacher!
The FFLD Y FlyFins have been a 10+ for Ella (and our family). Every swim coach is truly fantastic in their role. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the sport and do an amazing job teaching all of the strokes while helping the swimmers become stronger athletes and individuals. They are encouraging, kind, and incredibly motivating. The coaches genuinely care about each child, not only as a swimmer but as a person. They take the time to get to know each child, understand their individual strengths and challenges, and consistently encourage them to reach their full potential. They make the kids feel great about themselves by celebrating their progress, building their confidence, and creating an environment where everyone feels supported, comfortable, and valued... and they have FUN!!!!!! We are so grateful for the positive impact the FlyFins coaches and team have had on Ella. They have truly boosted her confidence over the years, both in and out of the pool. We couldn't ask for a better team or coaching staff.
I love the program and director Amanda. All instructors seemed very sweet as well. I would love more detailed feedback verbally.
Really love the instructors so far!! And the pools are so easy to get to + there’s a lifeguard on duty and the instructor at the same time
The Y has become my second home. Made many new friends too. It’s what community is all about.
My children and I have had wonderful experiences with the swim program, and we've especially appreciated their instructors, Sarah and Miriam. They have both been patient, encouraging, and have made lessons a positive experience for my children. I'm also very happy with the variety and number of classes the Y offers.
One area I hope the Y will consider improving is adding a make-up class option for missed lessons. Offering families the opportunity to make up an occasional missed class would add even more value to an otherwise great program.
The staff - so many wonderful, caring people. The Y has so many great programs for both kids and adults. But the best part to me is the feeling of community.
The staff and the facility
Ryder comes home excited to tell us about his day. The counselors go above and beyond for the kids in the camp! Absolutely love it!
We love the gym and the swimming pool.
What happened with Nacho? He was very good with small kids and since he went missing swim classes at Strattford are not very good. Classes start late and finish after 20+ minutes instead of 40. Teacher doesn't go into water which is fine for kids that are 12+ but will not work with younger kids. Impossible to get private lesson booked as my son has adhd and needs 1 on 1 attention. Nacho was able to deal with my son. Ever time Strattford gets good experienced teacher he/she is gone in few months.
Love the classes. Love the teachers. Wish there were more tents and comforts for the kids during summer camp. Fix parking lot. Make the women’s showers all behind curtains
Thank you for all you do
I love all the activities that my children participate in. I love how my children come home and can’t stop talking about how much fun they had and they just love all of the counselors.
I like the water classes but I don't like how the classes are interrupted by people talking holding the classes up. I also do not like hiw the classes have been pushed into all different times to accommodate the summer kids. They should be working around the schedule we have all had all winter long. I pay alit of money to be there also.
Hi, I sent the following email that I would like a response to. Thank you, First name removed
I wanted to reach out regarding the Fairfield YMCA's locker room policy. I recently reviewed the Child Safety & Locker Room Guidelines and saw that children ages 6 and under may accompany a parent into the corresponding locker room, while children ages 7 and older should use the locker room that aligns with their gender identity or expression.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the experience in practice. I've repeatedly seen boys who appear to be elementary-school age (approximately 8–9 years old) in the women's locker room.
As a mom of three, I completely understand the challenge parents face. I'll eventually be in the same situation as my young son gets older, so this isn't meant as criticism of families who are doing their best.
My older daughter is already very aware when boys are in the women's locker room. She notices it immediately and has told me it makes her uncomfortable. As she gets older and begins recognizing classmates from school, I'm concerned that discomfort will only increase. I don't think children should have to worry about encountering opposite-sex classmates while changing, and I believe all children deserve an expectation of privacy as they get older.
I also understand there are private changing stalls available in the women’s locker room, but for families like mine, they're often not a practical solution. Trying to change three young children, help with swimsuits and towels, and get everyone ready while changing myself makes using an individual stall unrealistic.
I'm hoping you can help me understand how the Fairfield YMCA communicates and enforces its existing locker room policy. If the current approach isn't working, are there any plans to improve enforcement or explore additional family changing options? I appreciate everything the YMCA does for families, and I'm raising this because I believe the current policy is reasonable. I would simply like to see it consistently followed so that the privacy and comfort of all members are respected.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.

Friendly staff. Good workout facility. I haven't used the pool so no comment on it.
Counselor seem less focused on the kids at sometimes, looking at their phones and socializing with each other.
I love all
My kids have been through the Y summer lessons before at the outdoor center and we’ve been happy. Unfortunately, the instructor this session has been underwhelming and my child hasn’t been able to develop.
As the pool is open to other Y members, the lesson area has been overcrowded on multiple days with no one from the Y making sure the lessons had their space and allowed other kids to keep interrupting the classes. The area where lessons are occurring should be clear of other swimmers.
My son loves going to camp at Woodruff. The staff is very friendly, and we love going there to exercise and have fun.
I would definitely recommend Fairfield YMCA Aquatics to my friends and family. I enrolled my son in the half-day swim school for a week, and he absolutely loved it. The instructors were great, and he had such a positive experience. It was one of the best programs we've tried, and I would definitely sign him up again!
We have had a very positive experience with the Woodruff Family YMCA Day Camp. The staff are friendly, caring, and enthusiastic, and they create a safe and welcoming environment for the children. Our kids enjoy the variety of activities, stay active and engaged throughout the day, and always have something fun to tell us when they get home. We also appreciate the strong sense of community and the confidence that our children are being well cared for.
The counselors, Jennifer, the themed days make it so much fun too!
The flexibility
Staff is great. Obviously the drop off/pick-up situation can improve.
The staff is professional and friendly. The pool and the gym are great.
My son loves Camp tepee. Every year since kindergarten he starts counting down the time till camp Tepee around March. He loves the variety of activities and has made life long friends . I love that he is out doors and being active.
My kids are having a great time this year!

It’s very loud in the pool, sometimes hard to hear instructions and make sure we are following along.
