Visser is a little more welcoming than any of the other Y’s.
It had a real sense of community and inclusion. Ever one is happy to be there. I feel like I’m in a healing environment when I am caring for my body and anything I get stuck on I always have support from the staff to make it over the hurdle. Visser is a nice “home” for anyone who needs that kind of environment.
I think it's an excellent facility for those living in the SW quadrant. It's clean and comfortable to use; plenty equipment and updated.
We love all YMCA locations in Grand Rapids but this one is special. It's more low key, has the cleanest facility and the most personal experience. We love the pools at each location but this one offers a smaller setting making lap swimming more accessible and the warm family pool is a hit with our two young boys. We look forward to coming back soon!

Love the Y and especially this location. I’m closer to the spartan one and drive longer just to come here. The fact that it has a kid zone is definitely the main reason- my kids absolutely love it here. They ask me everyday to come, I feel like that speaks volume! They’re all so nice and I’ve never had a bad experience!

hours and cleanness
The staff is very friendly and I enjoy chatting with members as well. A new program "Crafting with Carol" has been fun too! Even though the class was small last night, it was nice to hang out and make really cute ornaments.
I like the employees are nice people. The members that work out there. The facility delivers with its daycare, workout equipment, class offerings, pool, and gym availability.

I like being greeted upon arrival and someone saying goodbye when I leave. I like the personal feel that the staff give. I love that the treadmills have solitaire and sudoku so I can get lost in a game while walking. I love the pools, hot tubs, clean bathrooms, and clean equipment.
The classes and instructors are excellent. I love the family atmosphere. In the ,16 years that I have been coming I have made so many wonderful friends. Being a member with my husband keeps us accountable. It's great to work out together
