Cape Ann YMCA helps perpetuate feelings of goodness and I'm thankful to be a part of it.
It’s clean. It’s diverse. It’s new. The only issue is the yoga classes (they’re simply too crowded and all the people make me wanna go to yoga less) but I’m adjusting and will figure it out and probably add in an outside studio for yoga. But I’m so glad people want to do yoga!!
Excellent new facility!
I love the group aqua classes! They provide a work out that is less "punishing" for my knees. The instructors are enthusiastic and supportive, and it is a great way to start my day.
It was a great variety of classes and exercise options. Staff if friendly and welcoming.
My experience has been pleasant.
It’s a good facility with different options for working out and family programming etc. The only issues I see are with failing equipment sometimes not being addressed quickly and Saturday closing earlier than expected.
Friendly staff and convenient
This is the best gym with the most terrific staff, programming and facilities.
Overall a great place to recommend. Staff is welcoming, helpful. Facilities are new/newish and well maintained. Very busy so there's bound to be some wear and tear. I left a pickleball paddle there and was disappointed that it wasn't turned in to Lost & Found, but aside from that have found members friendly.
Clean and easy to park
Aside from the fact that the Y is a beautiful facially, every staff encounter couldn't be more welcoming & helpful. My class with Cassie was outstanding. Her knowledge and patience were beyond wonderful.
The staff has been very helpful, the equipment is high quality and the facilities are clean
Convenient location, clean, good selection of equipment
I am here because of recommendations from friends, and they were right! It is so convenient to eveything in the area. The staff is extremely helpful. There are so many opportunities available, and the $52 is affordable, making the Y a perfect value in these crazy times. I'm just sorry I waited so long to join!
The facility is beautiful.
It offers a wide range of classes in almost every area.
I attend the “ Fit for life” classes -they are a great workout and fun as well!!
Fabulous site.
Fabulous classes.
Fabulous teachers.
Right near my house.
Knowledgeable instructors like Kirsty, Erica G and Andi make this well maintained facility an excellent choice for all levels of exercise.
Friendly atmosphere, good teachers, responsive to members' needs, reasonably priced, special pricing for those less fortunate
Diverse programming and wellness opportunities! Caring community
Love to go swimming. Water is nice temperature, never to many people there when I go about noon. Good atmosphere this time neu lifeguard she even smiled compare to some of the them Have been south for the last 4 months so that was my first visit back home.
The facility is terrific and the staff excellent.
Positive, friendly.
P.S. Do you think you could fit more than 3 pickleball courts in the gym? I think you could easily fit 4 (two in each half, rotated 90 degrees from current orientation). Thank you.
Great instructions. Clean, beautiful facility. Friendly front desk staff. Terrific staff overall. I LOVE this Y!
Great facility for cist
I have taken the hydro classes and the instructors are good. I enjoy the class and the fact that we can stay and extend our workout.
2 comments so far:
1. Need more showers
2. Fit 4 life and hydro classes are at the same time. It would be great to have an afternoon or evening classes twice a week in addition.
Excellent staff, both administrative and trainers.
I have to give a shout out to Vanasse Lee's Barre classes, always giving us options, to obtain the same results with less impact on our bodies.
Also Joe Tapper in the membership office. He's always helpful with any questions.
All areas at the Gloucester Y are clean and well maintained.
Thank you.
The person that helped me get a discounted rate based on my income was amazing, so nice and walked me through and had it done in no time. It took me a while to get down there and someone set me up with a pass card and even set it to match my phone app and was so sweet and gave me an excellent break down of the facilities and even offered to give me the grand tour. But she did a great job of letting me know what was where that I didn't feel the need to take her away from something more important. So far the staff and the new building is just a big WoW IMO.
I also really like it compared to the old Y. The old one had a lot of hidden nooks and crannies, places where as a kid we could hide, get in a lot of trouble, kids had gotten beat up in the stair wells and often we were up to no good at the hand ball observation area. Lol many of my best memories and a few pretty bad. All part of growing up at the time.
Anyway, my point is that the new Y is as safe and open as can be. Personally, Id feel more comfortable if the pool wasn't such a fishbowl for near everyone from most parts of the place. But that's a person problem and has nothing to do with anyone but me. Which leads me to loving the dividers on either side of some machines.
I would imagine they're for people worried about COVID, but also perfect for someone that's sort of shy, maybe antisocial even. I just don't always feel comfortable. Sometimes standing in line at the bank with someone behind me makes me all nervous, sometimes I start to sweat and get a bit shaky. . Lol.
Bottom line, the place is great and there are many more reasons why I would recommend it.
Great facility. Excellent selection of equipment and ver friendly staff. Reasonably priced membership.

The staff is responsive when an issue needs to be resolved. Nice facility and nice staff.
