Glad to have a place to swim, bring children, have programs for children - all right here on Cape Ann. Glad to not have to drive miles with kids in car - use gas, and time. This Y is convenient, friendly, well kept (mostly), and offers young parents a place for themselves and their kids. Also offers seniors health and community.

It is so beautiful & has so much to offer. My first visit was to have a walk thru to see if it would be a good thing for me. The young lady that gave me the tour was very nice & walked me thru all the different things of interest that I might be interested in. She told me she herself was new & had only worked there two weeks. My main reason I wanted to join was to use the pool for exercise. I am 85 years old & I have a very bad back & I have to use a cane for help with mobility. I would like to make a suggestion if I may. She showed me the pool thru the window, but, she did not show me the inside of the dressing rooms or the procedure of what or where to get ready to get dressed for the pool. I was not aware of the need to shower first of where to do so. I felt completely lost & decided this was not for me.I got my things packed up & was ready to leave when a very nice lady saw that I was upset & told me to meet her the next morning & she would show me the ropes. So, the next day I did meet up with her & it turned out to be a great day.
I’ve enjoyed the pool at the Cape Ann YMCA for the past 5 months. I’ve also had a private swimming lesson. Though my experience of the Y is limited, I have nothing but good things to say about it. The facilities - front desk, cafe, locker room and of course the pool - all are top notch. But my main impression is of the ambience at the ‘Y’. The place is simply one of happiness, you just sense it. I’ve been a member of a number of gyms and clubs in the past and none measure up to the ‘it’ that the Cape Ann Y has. It’s quite inspirational and I’m so happy that we in in Gloucester have such an institution we can call our own.
