Pleasant, light-filled building, a lot of older people like me building fitness, good classes ( especially Cassie’s!), good equipment. Sometimes the music is a little abrasive lately, but I had enjoyed the classic rock.

The Cape Ann YMCA is an incredibly welcoming, diverse, supportive, cross-generational community organization. We are all working side-by-side to take better care of ourselves; and Gloucester is so much better for it!

I have been a member since the last several years of the Y being in downtown Gloucester. The new Y is a big physical improvement, without losing the friendly help and community-wanted offerings it always had.
I find water exercise very helpful. The pool having steps to get in & out, having lots of available "open swim" times as well as aqua fitness classes, and a well outfitted locker room make water exercise more possible for me.
In recent years, I have attended yoga classes. I am able to continue the practicing at home when I cannot get to the Y. This has also improved my health. Jasmine, Kirsty, Wyndee, and Cookie have taught me a lot. I hope I can continue to learn from them in the future.
It's easier to get to the Y from Rockport (I don't drive) since CATA added the "2A" or additional business loop bus that does a smaller Gloucester loop. It times well with the Eastern Ave bus to & from Rockport. It streamlines getting from Rockport to & from the Y without a car.

Facility offers a wide range of equipment and programs. The space is clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful.
The 10:30 class every day titled Fit for Life is the best ever! It is important because it is offered every weekday at the same time so it can be on your schedule and if you can't make it one day there is always tomorrow. No dealing with your calendar! Plus, it is significant that the same theme is taught by a different experienced instructor. Each class is unique!
Gloucester is my summer address, but I also live in Brookline. I have gone to every Y in my area to sell this idea! No takers yet but that is their mistake and a loss for local Y users!
