It’s like a family in all aspects, so it’s hard to pinpoint one particular thing to name as “best”. If I were to name a best, I couldn’t because I am thinking about the many programs that involve the community. However the one thing that defines and sets my YMCA above all others is the year round decorated pine tree that functions to welcome every national holiday, local holiday observance, ethnic observances, and many, many more. No community member is exempt. From back to school, ending of school, fall and spring breaks, Veterans Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day; I won’t attempt to name all of them. However, I must mention Kentucky Derby specifically because it gets everyone fired up for all of the surrounding activities. The “Pine Tree” which is really a tree of continuous daily joyous celebrations for everyone who walks through the doors. It reaches members, guests, and strangers alike. Our “Christmas Tree” embodies the individual, the family, and the community by bringing Christmas to all of us every day.
