The selection and the knowledge level. I recently ordered a bike which I had to unexpectedly cancel. The Bike Lane quickly refunded my CC charge. As a result I fully intend to buy a bike from them in the near future. I was extremely happy with their accommodation.

Employees are very attentive to shoppers. They take the time to welcome visitors, talk through options, and provide useful recommendations. Very friendly.
Total was $103, pre-tax. $42 for two tires, $21 for two tubes. I was told at checkout that it would be $20 for labor.
When I picked up the bike, I was told labor was $40.
When I asked why, I was given a few explanations that didn't make a whole lot of sense, one of which included, "your hands hurt when installing bike tires."
Also, the bike I borught in was a vintage. I bought it for very specific reasons. So I was disappointed when I brought it in and the person in the shop put a lot of sales pressure on me, telling me what garbage the bike was, and trying to push me into buying a new bike I didn't need.
It was only when I pushed back -- something I hate doing, esp'ly on first visit to a bike shop -- that the technician recognized I wasn't such an easy target.
I have three bikes -- the vintage I just brought in, a Jamis hybrid, and a TREK moutain bike. I just moved to the area. I'm hoping to have a good rel'p with you guys.
I'm going to try some other stores, before I come back. I'm hoping the next time I do, it's a much cooler experience.
