The friendly staff , all areas are clean all the equipment is updated and maintained, the hours of operation are great .
I attend the Y almost 5 days a week in the morning. I love the selection of machines. At that time there is no wait for anything. I like the new entryway. I do not prefer the set up of the machines. They seem very tight. Also, the last row of ellipticals you have to go all the way around or squeeze through the machines to get to the middle of the row.
I do recommend that there is more communication with members. Back in November/December (I think) there was a problem with the machines and the cable was out. I think it took about 1.5 weeks to get it fixed. The Y did not immediately communicate when it would be fixed, why it was out, or apologize that it was out. (I think a sign was posted about a week after the problem began) I understand there are things that cannot be helped but communicating about them and letting your members know that something is happening is just good management.
All in all, I love the gym. The people we have met are great. It's great to be greeted by Chantell and Janet in the mornings.
Good machines, friendly staff!
Local, friendly, island huge variety of programs and equipment
The improvements the Y has made are awesome
I like the classes. Currently I tend to go for bodypump or zumba classes but I find I need the structure to keep me motivated.
I would definitely recommend the Maryland Y to a friend. But, I really do not like getting these surveys repeatedly, again & again....
Clean, friendly and not overly crowded.
Great workout classes and instructors.
Availability and varied equipment. However, it is often difficult to get assistance from staff.
We love the Expresso Bikes and the friendly, helpful staff!
The Y provides all the classes and equipment that I enjoy in a friendly, attractive and safe facility.
Availability of group classes.
I cannot say enough kind words about both Ms. Nancy and Jenny Dillon. My sons have become exponentially more comfortable in the water in the three lessons we have had with Ms. Nancy so far. Before the first lesson, it was practically a hostage negotiation to get the boys into the pool, and now they will both put their faces in the water.
Additionally, I made an error when registering for lessons, and Jenny made sure that everything was in order. While I haven’t worked with her in the pool, I have observed her during private lessons with other students, and she has a patient and calming nature.
The swimming program at the Y in Arnold has greatly exceeded all of my expectations.
Wonderful group exercise instructors!
I love the classes, the smoothie shop, and the availability of machines and equipment. Thanks YMCA!
Good classes, good instructors and wonderful friends I made!
I like that the Y has a variety of classes and activities for different levels of exercise and ages, is community-minded and convenient, and generally clean and well taken care of. I love going to the sauna in the shower room, but I don't like the fact that there are new rules against throwing water on the stove, when this is clearly the same stove where water has always been thrown to generate steam (and is Finnish-made, where the stoves take water). Also, you should be able to visit the sauna from the showers wrapped in a towel, it's next to them after all and we are in a same-sex locker room!
I would definitely recommend the Y to anyone living in the community, especially to families as there is kidcare in the facility and lots of kids activities. I look forward to finding out if there is a play room in the renovated Y for older kids (8-12), who still need some supervision while the parents work out. It would be nice if the staff engaged this age group better, rather than parking them next to a computer.
All the people i encounter when registering or working in and around the warm water pool are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It dets a positive tone for members, too
It's a real family friendly gym.
Available machines, helpful and friendly staff, clean, wide variety
I enjoy going any time I feel like it. Plenty of equipment to use. Friendly people:)
I very much enjoy the Y experience. I have met many new friends there and look forward to my visits.
Several things I would like to bring to your attention:
1. The men's locker room needs some upgrading. The showers need to be renovated and the lockers need replacement. Something like the lockers in the pool locker room would be satisfactory.
2. The choice of music piped in on the PA is monotonous and banal. With over 130 channels on Sirius XM, it should be possible to listen to something other than Pop Rocks! How about some music from 50's, 60's, 70's, Big Band, Sinatra, or classical?
I enjoy the group exercise classes available such as Zumba, Cardio Dance, and PiYo.
Convenient anywhere I travel
renovations are great. Suggest providing and requiring members, who do not use locks on the gym floor lockers, tags to indicate a locker is in use. very frustrating to have to open and close a dozen or more unlocked lockers to find an empty one.
Also, would really like to see a second entrance available to the building from near the pool. On days when parking lot is full and weather is inclement, it is no fun to have to walk from the back lot to the front entrance.
Friendly, helpful staff. Availability of equipment and open hours.
Nice facilities
The ambiance. Cleaness. Updated equipment. Most of all, the homeschool program

Classes, rock wall
