Member Testimonials
I like that there is more than one pool, with lap lanes available most of the time. I would like it more if the water temperature was consistent and slightly warmer for lap swimming. The exercise machines are plentiful. The yoga teachers vary a lot in style and it is not easy to find one that works for me, even though my practice is fairly average. The staff is friendly.
Group exercise sessions
There is a good variety of programs available. Right now I'm mainly involved with pickleball but also swim. In the recent past I've also used the fitness room and taken group exercise classes.
This week there seems to be a bit of chaos regarding the pool schedules.
Officially the 50 m pool was closed on Sunday Oct 6. On Monday a schedule was posted that indicated that all pools were closed between 12 noon and 3.30 p.m.
It then turned out that B pool was kept open after 12 noon. Today it was posted that B pool would be closed today Oct 8 and tomorrow Oct 9. Today C pool was open instead with chilly air and water temperatures. It then turns out that the 50 m pool is opened at 3.30 p.m. for the swim team. It does not seem to make any sense that during a week with beautiful sunny weather patrons need to swim in the bubble with chilly air and water temperatures when the 50 m pool is still operational with the water being heated for the swim team and there is sunny weather with warm outside temperatures. (Also for the guards it would have been much more pleasant to guard outside than in the chilly bubble.) Here it would make sense that on sunny days when the midday temperatures reach the upper 60ies or lower seventies, the 50 m pool would be open from 11 or 12 noon until 3.30 p.m., when the swim team moves in, instead of B or C pool being open.
Many patrons, who have been members of the Y for many years, still remember past years in which the 50m pool was open until at least October 15, commonly until October 22 and sometimes even until Halloween.
So as long as the expense is incurred for heating the 50 m pool with the respective energy use, it should be made available in the middle of the day when there are pleasant temperatures. It does not make a lot of sense to spend all that energy for only opening the pool between 3.30 an 6 p.m. for the swim team, when there are so many members who are longing to swim outdoors. (I think some flexibility depending on the outdoor temperatures would be appreciated by many members). In general, many members would prefer that the 50m pool would open a bit later in May, since there is often still rather chilly weather in the first 10-14 days of May, and stay open longer in October, since over the past few years there used to be glorious sunny weather in the first weeks of October.
Given the current situation with B pool being closed , it would be greatly appreciated that tomorrow on Oct 9 and o Friday Oct 10, the 50m pool would be open in the middle of the day rather than the chilly C pool being open.

Excellent staff, especially at the wellness center and the theater departments.
I like the variety of the group exercise classes and that you have multiple swimming pools year-round. I like the welcoming and diverse membership population.
I swim. That's all I do at the Y, and I only use the 50M. It would be really nice if I could occasionally bring a guest. When I'm there, it's NEVER crowded and one or two guests would make no difference, even if 10 people brought guests.
There is a wide variety of activities and exercise programs at the Upper Main Line YMCA. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the environments are kept clean.
I really enjoy the morning group x classes. The instructors are all really great!
Great and well informed personnel running the classes. Friendly, great classes.
I appreciate many aspects of your exercise programs. First the variety, second the excellent instructors (Tina and Barb), third the friendly atmosphere of the participants.
The front desk staff is always welcoming, and the building is always clean and fresh.
I enjoy the fact that the Y always tries to change and adapt to improve the facility and the various programs it offers.
I don't participate in any programs - just work out on my own routine
