I like that the lessons and practice drills are designed to my specific needs.
It is not Blue Dolphin, it is Swift. Teachers great but pool usually cold, facility hot and very dirty. Showers in lady lockers not working...
We're glad that you are happy with the lessons, but we do need to make sure that Swift is a good place for your son to take lessons. I believe that we finally licked the cold water problem in November when the heater was replaced. We are trying to get the school to take action on the showers but we're running up against getting money allocated to fix (see all of the comments below). We've had some additional comments about the dirtiness of the locker rooms, so we'll starting having our coaches do spot checks and mops of the floors to make sure that they stay more presentable as the day goes on.
As far as the air temperature goes, we intentionally keep it very warm to keep the water comfortable for the swimmers. While it is hot for those sitting on the deck, it makes it very comfortable for the children. If at all possible, I suggest doing the Midwest thing and dress in layers if you want to stay in the pool room.
personal, knowledgeable--very helpful
I'd sign up for more if it cost less but I definitely got my money's worth
The locker room is impossible to change a toddler in, the showers and running all the time, it is slippery. There is often no convenient place of parents and little siblings to sit and watch. The bench is full and wet.
We're very sorry that you are frustrated. We are working with the folks at Swift to get the showers running effectively as well as give us storage space for changing tables and the like. As far as the wet benches, we'll look into them. That's something we can fix. They are out for the break now, but I will reach out to you when I get an update.
Personal touch and the fact that the instructor looks at the details from within the pool
The teachers are amazing. They work very hard to get to know my children and gently and playfully they challenge them to the next level. My children always want to go to the lessons because its fun and they learn at the same time. Great didatics.
I like that the pool feels clean. Aside from the 12.18.2014 swim practice, the water has been relatively comfortable. Because there is only one other female swimmer on Thursday nights, it's nice having the locker rooms all to ourselves. It's actually nice having a locker to lock stuff up in instead of lugging everything and leaving them on benches along the poolside. I also like that no one really attends these swim sessions so we can have our own lanes.
I would give it a 10 if the pool was actually 25 yards but it's not.
But what I really like (and the only reason I'm completing this survey) is because on 12.18.2014 I lost my earring at the pool. On 12.19.2014 I called the school to see if I could go there to search for it. They said that they couldn't allow me to go back to the school until Saturday 12.20.201 (when no students were around). This was understandable (frustrating and disappointing but completely understandable).
Mark (who I spoke with) said to ask for Mike (of the custodial staff) when we got there on Saturday.
Today, I showed up at the school, told the security I was here to see Mike. The security asked if it was about the earring. I said "yes". The security guy said "yup, he has it". I wasn't quite sure what he meant by that, until Mike came up, pulled out of his pocket a little envelope and placed in my hand my missing earring.
I was SHOCKED!!!! I couldn't believe they found it. They said the robot that sucks up stuff at the bottom of the pool caught it and because they knew we were coming by to look for it, they were on the lookout for it. I had already planned on spending my Saturday afternoon searching for a needle in a haystack. But no less than 5 minutes, I was already reunited with my earring. Not to mention, this was not some big loop or dangling earring. This was a tiny stud.
Talk about customer service!!! That was top notch. Also, talk about great communication. I'm not sure who Mark (person I spoke with) was, but the fact that this tiny earring got as much attention as it did and was brushed off with disregard made me completely fall in love with Lake View High School's staff.
p/s The night security guy (still have yet to figure out his name) is pretty cool too and extremely nice.
Facilities could always be cleaner. It is also far north for those that live in Lincoln park/Lakeview/wicker park areas.
The school environment & the interacton of teachers with student is morethan my expectation. My daughter she has good time ecery single day so far. Thank you !
Great location, but ladies locker room temperature was always EXTREMELY COLD, even before lesson. Also, after Wednesday night lessons, no hot water for showers or sinks. Also no outlets to use hair dryer from. Winter classes are not fun when you have to take public transportation home with wet hair.
Great swim coach
Instructor is knowledgeable and is good at teaching swimming technique.
Small class size. Convenient location. Parking. Excellent teachers.
It was our first session. Need more experience with the facility.
The quality of instruction
* Focus on course given
* Instructor knowledge is very good
* Everyone very patient to explain & guide (front office member, instructor)
teachers are great and very helpful, but for $80 for a 1/2 hour, I think the classes should be capped at 3 or 4 kids.
We keep our student to teacher ratio at 3 students to 1 coach and we cap the total class size at 6 (2 coaches). It would be hard for us to go lower given that the comparables in our market have a 4:1 ratio in their classes at the same or higher price. Further, classes on the weekend mornings are in such high demand that we can't cap our class sizes at 3 to 4. Perhaps we could switch you to a weekday class which might not be so full. Please let us know.
I will check our attendance and staffing records to see if we had 1 coach in the class with more than 3 swimmers. That should not have happened except in a last minute emergency.
Easy scheduling
Your Instructors
Love Coach K!
Our child's skills have developed well with Blue Dolphin instructors.
Wish you had a swim team.
We just had our first class today, so we would need a bit more experience to give a more robust review. However, frankly I was a bit disappointed with the facilities for changing and storing personal belongings (bags, shoes, etc.). The space available to change adults and children in and out of swim gear is very limited. The small changing areas are very crowded before and after classes.
It's too far from our house. And the only location for my daughter's lessons. We live near the Elston location.
As we discussed today, we'll be adding pool time on Saturday morning at Lake View High School in January for our more advanced classes. That will be a little bit closer to you. We are also looking for additional locations closer to the Swim Studio, but those in early stages of work.
Small groups great coaches
flexible times, nice isntructors and management
They are patient with children
Too soon to evaluate how effective my private lesson was.
Prompt email replies, reminders, really patient and awesome teachers.
You're already working on the water temperature, which is great. While far for us, it's nice having the playground and restaurants nearby for after class. Being an old school, I understand that the changing rooms are going to be cramped. Is there anything that can be done about the temperature, though? There is a huge difference in the air temperature between the pool room and the changing room.
The air heater into the pool room (and to the locker rooms) was broken and that's why cancelled classes over the weekend. During the week, the air was misting in the pool room because the pool temperature crossed the threshold of being too warm for the air. I suspect that once the air temperature gets fixed, the pool temperature might go up again because the pool heater won't be called upon to heat the room.
Thank you for you patience while we resolve the infrastructure issues with the school.
Consistency, frequent testing to move to the next level and ability to adjust lesson to kids needs if the kid needs more advanced activities.
Flexibility and my daughter enjoys it.
The only reason we don't regularly attend is that my schedule changes weekly. Not available for the same class each week. That being said, when I did try to attend a different class each week, you were very accommodating. Thank you
