We recently moved here from Virginia and I have found that the Southeast Raleigh Y has become my third home. I am grateful for that. Everyone is friendly and there are so many options for classes, exercise and activities. And the sauna is pretty awesome too!
The biggest draw for me is the pool. I have been swimming all winter and never thought I would be able to swim outside in those winter months ….a dream come true. I know all the life guards, we are friends, care about each other. I love how the aquatics program is teaching young students to love water and the skill of swimming. Waleska’s leadership is outstanding!

This is such a fun YMCA! I love the diversity of people and classes. The layout is great and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. I also enjoy the outdoor track. It really screams "community"!
I love the community feeling at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA! I am a regular at Byron and Kim's dance classes and I feel rejuvenated after every class.

The Southeast Raleigh YMCA has created a welcoming and inclusive environment that truly reflects the spirit of community wellness. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the positive energy and commitment to helping members grow stronger both physically and mentally.
The group fitness programming is outstanding. The cycle classes particularly Cycle Fusion with Cheryl, Cycle Beats with Meredith, and Cycle Force with Jeff are consistently motivating and well structured. Each instructor challenges participants to their max while fostering an encouraging atmosphere that keeps members engaged and coming back.
I also appreciate the Trap Yoga classes, which offer the perfect balance of movement, stretch, and music. Whether led by Nykya, Pendora, or Chushenna, each class provides a restorative yet energizing experience with playlists that make the session even more enjoyable.
The Southeast Raleigh YMCA is more than just a fitness facility it is a place where community, health, and positive energy come together to create a truly meaningful experience for its members.
A special shout out to Director Dexter for his leadership and dedication to creating such a positive and uplifting space for the community. The Southeast Raleigh YMCA is truly an asset to the community and a place where wellness, connection, and encouragement come together.
Taking the classes especially the thrive classes. It's encouraging to see although we're older in age, we're still able to move, dance, stretch.
I am so grateful that the front desk staff greeted me with a bright smile, and those who always clean it up!
The Southeast location is wonderful. The facility is well equipped and clean and the staff is very pleasant. My only complaints are that it can be difficult to find parking at times, especially when there is an event happening at the ymca or at the school, and I regularly have issues with individual gym goers attempting to claim multiple pieces of equipment at a time, sometimes as many as three. They need a reminder that we are all sharing the gym, and need to be respectful of others waiting for equipment.

* the commitment to improving the health and quality of life of the community where the SE Raleigh Y is located by having diabetes & other disease prevention and management classes, hosting the Black Farmers Market, having “self care” workshops, outstanding aqua-fitness & THRIVE classes, etc.
* how they show all cultures are celebrated and appreciated
* how they promote and support the best THRIVE group in the Triangle
* how they show member appreciation by sometimes having live musical performances in the lobby and, at times during Black History & Women’s History Months, welcome local vendors to showcase their products in the lobby also
I realize that it takes awesome leadership with vision to make an institution like the Southeast Raleigh YMCA great. Great leaders allow the staff they direct the space to be exceptional. So, I must also give the SER director, Dexter, accolades. I’ve witnessed him, throughout the facility at various times, greeting members and giving them words of encouragement. I am grateful for the work he does to help build a sense of family, belonging and community at my Southeast Raleigh Y.

Very spacious and great staff ! Also, not terribly overcrowded- great place.
Great, clean gym. One member thought that my friend was personal training me when he was not and aggressively spoke up about how she felt, when we explained the situation she rolled her eyes and made both of us feel very uncomfortable. Other than that, the gym was well maintained, lots of available machines and weights!
I love the pool! It’s so essential to my well being. The pool staff are great. Swimming is one of the great highlights of my week

Great atmosphere, staff is amazing from the people at the front desk to fitness instructors. And if you have a child they will enjoy their time in the kids zone with that amazing staff who keeps them screen free occupied. Just a wonderful for all your fitness needs

Please consider cleaning that area from time to time. I thinks the floor pallets slide out easily and can be hosed & washed with a pole brush between the shower stalls over the tile floor drains. The sauna floor does not have a drain but could be washed and wet vacuumed with the hose going to the drain. Dawn soap & soft bristled pole bush and warm water works great. I could help if needed. I'm a former YMCA employee in another city. Thanks Y Friends. Rick
Southeast YMCA Sports programs are well organized and highly competitive. We love how much the coaches and staff clearly demonstrate care for the kids. We like the community feel that has been established and because of that, all the relationships my boys have developed over the years.
I was so happy to see the Black History Month celebration through the Y entry! Thank you so much for doing that!
