Love it! Great location. Well maintained gym and equipments. Amazingly friendly staff. I go almost every weekday morning between 7 and 8am. I would go to this location on weekends too but it is not open.
The durham ymca is a focal point of wellness, community, and culture.
Hands down the BEST team of people at the Downtown Y. Always helpful, always putting smiles on faces. Thank you!
everything!!! the people in here they are sooo friendly!!! and they help you in whatever workout with noooo judgement
I like the pool, friendly staff. Amy Rossi's yoga classes are excellent. Good variety of gym equipment. I know it's an aging facility, but it's fine, no need to have a fancy facility, it's the Y.
It feels like home
Always like this place
Perfect location, great pool
Good selection of yoga classes back to back on Thursday. Indoor track for rainy day walks
Lots of space. Machines in good condition.
personnel are professional and excellent communicators
All of the Durham Ys I've been to are welcoming, friendly places. Staff & members are a diverse group, so all kinds of people seem to feel comfortable whatever their current level of fitness. At the Downtown Y there's plenty of equipment for a variety of exercises, & it's wonderful to have the indoor track for walking & running when it's too hot or cold outside.
I think the Y is a strong force for community in Durham. Seems like it could be a good way to help address youth crime here if there were scholarships available for families that might not be able to afford membership. (Maybe some of this is already happening but I'm not aware of it.)
I love the friendly customer service downtown. However I wish the steam room was not always broken.
Location. And parking availability. You have to know what to do to park in the deck across the street but it is a good choice. Just take your parking ticket to the desk and they will stamp it !!!
The group class instructors, and all the staff, are wonderfully welcoming and encouraging.
Everything! I am a lifelong member of the YMCA from High Point, North Carolina to New York City and of course the Downtown Durham Y for as long as it has been there, some 25 years. I know many members and we all want to keep our wonderful Y AS IS, WHERE IS! There has been talk of demolishing this perfectly good structure and replacing it with a 10 story building. Please, say it ain't so! A walk around the track will reveal the quality of this construction. Maintain it, don't destroy it, Please! Thanks. Graham Hayes Marlette

I love it. I swim 5 days a week and every one I come in contact with is always nice.
A great way to start my day.
I like the exercise equipment, it is updated and in good condition. I like the diversity of the members, age, sex, ethic backgrounds, and reasons for coming to the Y. I enjoy the swimming, lap swimming and the open access to the pool. I also enjoy the steam room when it is working,,,that needs to be more consistent and better maintained. I respect and appreciate the staff at the Y, friendly and professional
Friendly staff and everyone is nice. Great weight room and plenty of space to work out. Looking forward to using the pool next year (part of my New Year's resolution!)
The people!
I like the interactive group classes. The camaraderie is what stands out, the friendships made. A great feeling.

The staff is not only friendly, they are happy.
