Great atmosphere and space to do your thing. My only critique is the people in the basketball court can be cliquish and unnecessarily rude to new comers. I wish the dynamic was more welcoming and actually bully free.
Most of all, the people. I see people at the Y that I known for years, and the Y is a great cross section of the city I live in.

I like that the steam room is working properly, I like the new arrangement of the exercise equipment on the floor. I wish there was a machine for doing calves and a machine for doing brdges to exercise buttocks like the one in the Alexander branch in Raleigh. I like the old school lockers at Durham because I can lock it with my padlock for extra security. The staff is always polite and the men's locker room no longer smells like stinky feet.

I like the indoor track, the open play basketball, the lack of crowdedness so that I could be in peace. I'm looking forward to taking classes. I wish that there were pilates machines in the fitness room though(transformers)

Best machines of all of the YMCAs that I go to. Gym floor remodel was fantastic. I also really like and appreciate all of the staff there. Really appreciate that you provide towels. Sauna and steamroom are operational way more than other gyms I go to. Overall 10 out of 10, easy!
Flu rates are so high, I would love to see signs in the exercise rooms reminding folks to stay home if they don't feel well to protect others from life threatening illnesses.
The facilities are well maintained, helpful staff and quite affordable. Very convenient and positive experience overall.

It’s broadly encompassing and welcoming: it brings together a wide spectrum of Durham across age level, income, race and ethnicity.
Also, the workout space does not feel judgmental or performative. It’s comfortable.
pool temp is great, all the swimsuit water extractors work, gym floor has all the equipment I need for deadlifting and squatting, front desk folks were helpful, there is a sauna

The classes are easy to book online. I enjoy that I can take advantage of all the Triangle Ys— it makes it easy and very flexible for me since my schedule varies week to week. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. It’s always easy to walk in— I never feel uncomfortable.
I also like the social justice mission of the Y. I enjoy knowing that my membership helps my community and I enjoy participating in events like the gift tree at Christmas time.
