Good equipment; nice welcoming people
clean, equipment, resources, hours, convenience!!
I enjoy coming to the "Y" & appreciate the professional help I got thru the Kick-Start program.
We like and appreciate the staff more than anything!! From getting greeted at check in and on our way out the door after a workout, to the amazing instructors, maintenance team, lifeguards, and the janitors (who keep the facility clean and tidy), the whole team is incredible!
Love the walking/running track and all the equipment for weight training. The facility is always clean and well run.
Joining the YMCA is one of the best decisions I've made. Very happy with everything they have to offer. I'm beginning to spend a lot of time there.
Thank you
very good instructors
Thank you for reinstating the Thursday 9:30am cycle class!!
Thank you for getting another stair climber!!
It would be great if instructors would be better educated about eating disorder triggers. I've been in a few classes where different intructors say things like, "you've earned a [some sort of indulgence] after this!" Or other similar comments. I won't say which instructors, because I think it's important that they all have some kind of training in eating disorders and diet culture as a whole.
We all come to the Y for different reasons, and we never know what people of all ages are going through :)
The people
Not crowded. Quiet place to work out
Haselwood Y is well-equpped and the staff seems well-trained.
Finding class schedules and other info online is tedious to separate what I'm looking for from the other facilities, so that could be improved.
Friendly staff, cleanliness of facility, ease to use machines when you want them, great classes for all ages.
I have Kaiser Permanente insurance and was unaware that they changed from Silver and Fit to One Pass this year. Only through the outstanding efforts of Nathan Burleson in Membership Services at HASELWOOD FAMILY YMCA was I able to my membership updated for 2025. I am grateful for his efforts and answering my many emails about membership.
Love all the Zumba classes. And yoga
everything except how rudely fitness instructors ask people to move in the pool. It is ridiculous to clear the area 15 minutes prior to class starting.
also communication around when swim team's practice. The the adults p[aying memberships should be able to have priority between 4 and 7 p.m. for lap swim.
Clean and well organized facility; professional and friendly staff. I feel safe here.
The pool
Hazelwood, why is very clean and the people are that employees are very friendly and I enjoy the ambience thank you bye
Everyone on staff, every member I've met, is a joy to be around. I could not be happier.
Location. Layout provides room to move around without being crowded. Condition of equipment. Cleanliness. Many types of exercise available.
It's a GREAT place....plain and simple

It's great to work out or take classes with other people. Keeps me more motivated, and I enjoy the social aspect as well.
I like that there are a wide range of ages in the people around me. Also that the equipment is clean and in good order. It’s a cheerful place for the most part. I get a good, wide range of exercise.
I would like it if more classes like Zumba and yoga were available mid-afternoon.
Thanks for asking.
Friendly, clean and a variety of machines
I noticed people are pressing the temperature for the steam room and it make so hot that it’s very uncomfortable. There is any way to cover the temperature so people don’t touch them. I also notice people are using their cell phone inside the locker room and also around the spa area. It should be strongly mandated for not using their cell phone in that area. I know you have signs everywhere but nothing have done to stop those people. It’s very uncomfortable. Hopefully this will be change right away and mandated. Staff should stop them and remind them that no cell phone. Thank you
Lots of great equipment, classes, friendly staff. Wonderful pool, track and gym.
We just returned from the Los Angeles area where we were able to use our “National” access to use two different Y’s; the West Valley Y in Reseda and on Sundays (West Valley is closed on Sundays) the Yarrow Family Y in Westlake VIllage. The West Valley Y is in a single story building that looks like it was built in th 1960’s in a working-middle-class urban area. It was very small but friendly and welcoming. In contrast, the Yarrow Family Y had the billionaire, David Murdock (owner of Dole Food Co.) generously donated 20 million dollars that enabled the Yarrow Family Y to be completed & opened in 2019. Their donor recognition wall included last names such as Getty. Not surprisingly, it’s a lovely two-story facility with helpful staff, too.
However, neither of those Ys had the a pool that came close to the size with the extra amenities (lazy river & slide) of Haselwood’s Y, nor did they have the indoor track. Perhaps, that’s not surprising given the weather differences we have with Southern California. The Haselwood Y feels much larger and thankfully hasn’t put the cardio equipment too close together. As fancy as the Yarrow Y is, they had to awkwardly (in my opinion), combine the cardio equipment in the same room as the weights and weight equipment. The Haselwood Y has many more nooks and crannies for getting a solid weight and stretching work out, too. While we are very, very appreciative of having a membership that gives us “National Access” to other Ys, visiting and working out in other Y’s reminds us how lucky we are to have Haselwood in our community.
Friendly staff and lots of choices for classes. Really like the weight room.
